What You Will Do
As a Solution Architect, you will work with fellow architects and cross-disciplinary teams to plan and execute our cloud transformation journey. You will design target state architectures for new applications and for our existing technology portfolio, and you will help shape our roadmap and provide technical leadership and vision to guide our efforts. You will craft implementation guidance and work as a trusted advisor to our application development, cloud engineering, operations, and information security teams. You will prototype candidate patterns and take an iterative and scientific approach towards finding the best architectural solutions for the problems at hand. The level of work required is advanced and you must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job does not have any direct reports.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and maintain solution/product architectures for specific departments in compliance with applicable enterprise architectures
Provide oversight on the architecture and design of specific solutions within a line of business
Participate in assignments concerning development of target conceptual and logical architectures for products and solutions
Participate in project and architecture reviews to ensure that the design being applied meets policies, principles, standards, and business/technology needs and roadmaps.
Review and align product choices to ensure that enterprise architecture standards, service quality and availability, and cost efficiency are met.
Maintain knowledge of new technology trends and uses this knowledge to design new solutions that support and accomplish goals and technology roadmaps.
Contribute to the definition and analysis of requirements for the enterprise and applying available and new technologies to support strategic our goals.
Research and recommend changes to foundational/target architectures.
Evaluate products and technologies and their alternatives for use in proposed solutions.
Your Background, Knowledge, and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Architecture, Information Systems or other related fields or equivalent work experience
Seven or more total years of experience in Information Technology disciplines
Three or more years of experience in solution/systems/data architecture
Experience with the full lifecycle of designing, building and operating and systems on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Understanding of enterprise and service design patterns and best practices.
Understanding of API, SOA, or microservice concepts, design patterns and best practices.
Familiarity with DevOps concepts such as continuous integration, continuous deployment, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code
Broad knowledge of information technology systems, with strong understanding of the relationship between business processes, applications, databases, operating systems, processing platforms, storage platforms, security systems and networks
Ability to clearly and concisely illustrate and communicate concepts in words and diagrams
Flexibility in designing systems - including using new technologies.
7+ years of overall software development experience.
Experience with visual drawing tools such as Microsoft Visio or OmniGraffle, a plus.
Experience with Agile Development Methodologies and Practices, such as Scaled Agile Framework, a plus.
