The Washington Post Universal Desk is seeking ahomepageeditor.

Theideal candidate must have strong news judgment, excellent headline-writing skills and the ability to respond quickly to breaking news stories and trending topics. The editor willcurate coverage on criticaldigital platformsincludingthe homepage and classic app. They will alsoidentify, write andsendemail and pushalerts.

Thiseditorwill play an important role in shaping The Post's digital coverage by assessing breaking news and helping to determine story treatment and layoutonThe Post'shighestimpact platforms. The editor must be a good multitasker, always keeping a close eye on analytics and the competition.This candidate should understand mobile technology and its audience and bring ideas about how to best present content in that space.

This position requires the editor to work closely with many other newsroom departments, including photos, videos and graphics, flagging them to breaking news for all digital platforms.

Weekend and holiday shifts will be required for this position. This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, it will not be eligible for remote work.
