As a Strategic Learning Consultant – Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) you will provide strategic direction for the LRL business functions and be responsible for defining, creating, managing, and maintaining the functional performance/learning strategy that drives and enhances organizational capabilities. Cross functional collaboration and consulting with key business partners, Lilly suppliers, and other Learning and Development (L&D) partners is required to ensure alignment between the learning strategy, curriculum architecture and implementation of the learning portfolio. Additional interface with business and learning lead team governance bodies may be required to deliver an effective learning strategy and provide budget requirements into business plan. The Strategic Learning Consultant (SLC) is also responsible for program management of large, complex strategic L&D initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:  

Client Management and Performance Consulting


  • Partner with LRL senior leadership and across business areas to develop and influence aligned strategies for identifying, prioritizing, and funding near and long-term large-scale performance improvement and/or capability development interventions in alignment with quality, compliance and ethics standards.

  • Appropriately challenge business leadership regarding ways to use performance-based learning as a strategic lever for their organization.

  • Ensure appropriate linkages with business and functional L&D governance to drive and influence internal L&D process improvements that impact the results within LRL.

  • Conduct needs analysis/assessments to create the functional learning and evaluation strategy to support performance interventions based on business needs and objectives.

  • Partner with LRL L&D Associates to ensure effective communications are implemented as part of the overall L&D strategy with business partners.

  • Partner, as appropriate, with other L&D professionals to evaluate effectiveness of existing and planned learning interventions.

  • Influence learning organization through knowledge gained from relationships with internal and external customers and partners.

  • Monitor client satisfaction to ensure the learning strategy implementation provides business value and share results with business partner(s).
     

Management of Strategic/Special Projects


  • Secure and sustain business area sponsorship for strategic initiatives.

  • Work in partnership with L&D leadership to scope and prioritize strategic and/or special projects and determine the integration points across LRL related to the business area’s learning and performance improvement needs.

  • Lead/manage strategic and/or special projects by:

  • Ensuring appropriate project documents are in place and clearly communicated

  • Leading and/or participating in project kick-off

  • Monitoring and communicating program/portfolio status to key business partners

  • Anticipating and resolving project/program issues; escalating as appropriate

  • Creating, reviewing and overseeing execution of implementation plan(s).

  • Stay abreast of and know the breadth of learning solutions to guide business partners to the most effective learning methods, solutions and outcomes.

  • Collect business partner and end learner feedback to surface opportunities for improvement of existing training.

  • Benchmark within Lilly and outside of Lilly, as appropriate, seeking appropriate sharing and replication opportunities.
     

Minimum Qualification Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 years’ experience in proactive strategic learning and capability development consultation

  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of L&D emergent technologies (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality, gamification, microlearning, virtual training programs).

Additional Skills and Preferences:


  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design, analysis, and evaluation

  • Demonstrated program/portfolio management skills

  • Demonstrated experience in performance consulting with business partners

  • Demonstrated ability in communication, conflict resolution, judgment and managing ambiguity for effective results in complex situations

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and/or lead capability development initiatives

  • Ability and willingness to challenge business leadership regarding ways to use learning interventions to most effectively meet business requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to operate broadly and at a high level, while maintaining appropriate attention to detail

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills to address critical business issues

  • Demonstrated learning agility

  • Experience with learning and development business processes


  • Experience with companion tools used to execute broader business processes (such as CAPA tools, document repositories)

  • Experience in supplier oversight

  • Experience supporting and participating in audits and inspections

  • Knowledge of LRL business and structure

  • Demonstrated ability to coach others on performance consulting, instructional design, evaluation, and program/portfolio management

  • Ability to effectively partner globally

  • M.S. in Instructional Systems Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning or related experience/education

  • HPI Certification

  • Certified soft skills certification (e.g., DDI program).

  • Experience in visual analytics (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
