Position is a member of the UITS TechSelect Client Support Team and works with general supervision in the following ways:
Provides direct support for help desk activities interfacing with faculty, staff, and administration; identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems; responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support; documents, tracks and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution; reviews, analyzes, installs, and modifies computer operating systems; detects, diagnoses, and reports problems associated with OS; maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals; diagnoses, and reports network problems; documents, maintains, upgrades, or replaces hardware and software systems; supports and maintains user account information including rights, security, and systems groups at the workstation level.
Associate degree in computer science or a closely related field and one year of computer technology experience.
Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Ability to make day-to-day decisions, and to follow instructions, pre-established guidelines and commonly used practices. Personal initiative and ability to work under pressure. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
Two years of computer technology experience.
Working Conditions / Demands
Position is bound by working with TechSelect clients on IU equipment. Physical demands include ability to lift, move, and deploy computer equipment. The scope of provided technical support is multi-campus in a 40-hour, Monday - Friday week.
Advanced subject matter expertise and the ability to engage and collaborate with the highest-level faculty and administrators, including but not limited to school deans and academic directors, research center directors, and administrative unit leadership. Job complexity is great.
