Under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor(s), the Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing and overseeing maintenance activities for their assigned shift. The Lead is responsible for oversight of activities and coordination of emergency requests in all areas owned by Maintenance at the site. Lead and support the maintenance shift through effective communication, guidance and general oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the emergency phone during the assigned shift; coordinate emergency support with respect to assigning mechanics, evaluating and communicating priorities and escalation as required.
Generate and distribute shift pass down notes
Assist the supervisor(s) with JDE/work order management and assignments as requested
Oversee troubleshooting and provide guidance and direction.
Provides recommendations for improvement to Preventative Maintenance procedures and programs
Run staff and shift change over meetings as needed
Assign (Priority #1) emergency JDE work orders as needed
Under general supervision, performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, repairs and preventive maintenance of plant equipment (process, utilities and support systems).
Requires an in depth understanding of site operations, process and utilities equipment and support systems.
Requires basic familiarity with generally accepted building, plumbing, piping, electrical, and fire protection practices and codes to include NFPA, NEC, UBC, UMC and UPC in compliance with Company EH&S and Factory Mutual requirements.
Must be familiar with plant and global SOPs as related to position and department responsibilities.
Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with CA state and federal EPA regulation and laws. Specific responsible system repairs, upkeep, maintenance and operations managed within regulating agencies such as CAL OSHA and OSHA.
Ensures that personal training and qualification is up to date. Assists mechanics on shift to verify their qualification status
Interact with and oversee contractor/vendor work
Provide regulatory and partner audit support.
Interpret electrical schematics, I/O wiring and panel drawings, Utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork, and HVAC P&ID's.
Constructively interact and collaborate with peers and clients in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, utility plants, analytical labs and contracted services.
May perform general labor duties as needed and may be required to work in awkward locations.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Must be knowledgeable with respect to the operation and maintenance of the manufacturing equipment and components.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of manufacturing equipment and process, using blueprints, equipment manuals, specifications and standard operating procedures
Use proper judgment when taking a decision about the scope of work for any corrective work order
Possess good mechanical knowledge and skills
Coordinates and prioritizes maintenance related issues with facilities managers, manufacturing, maintenance technicians, QC, supply chain, CMMS, cleaning, and QA personnel.
Provides feedback to area manager on performance of processes, schedulers and planners
Education and/or experience
High School Diploma or GED required. 6+ years of experience preferred bachelor’s degree
Working Environment
Must be able to lift 75lbs and carry up to 50lbs.
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.
Will work in a cold, wet environment
Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.
Must be able to work overtime as required. (only for non-exempt positions)
