• Maintains grass with zero-turn lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers and various hand tools; • Utilizes power and hand tools to perform various landscaping activities, such as digging, moving, filling, and leveling earth, river rock, and other fill material; places sod and grass seed; cleans ditches, culverts, & storm drains; removes / places mulch; picks up trash, leaves, and other debris; • Plants, trims, and removes trees, shrubs, and bushes using chains saws, hedge trimmers, and other power and hand tools; • Installs, maintains and repairs, and replaces sign posts, signs, parking blocks, and fencing; • Spreads salt on icy roads & walkways by hand, manual spreader, and box spreaders; removes snow with shovels, utility vehicles, Polar Tracs, and plow trucks; • Performs operator maintenance on all tools and equipment used; • Can be placed on-call for after-hours emergency response; • Performs all related duties as assigned Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent required; pesticide / herbicide licenses desirable but not required; • Must have six (6) months of recent / relevant Grounds Laborer experience or demonstrated mechanical ability to perform the assigned duties of the position; • Ability to work any time of the day and any day of the week in all weather conditions utilizing appropriate safety precautions and procedures; must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance • Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, & motor vehicle report; • Maintain security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation; • Maintain valid State of Michigan driver's license and remain insurable to operate Company vehicles; • Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language
