Position Overview:

The BIM Manager is responsible for developing and implementing project-specific Virtual Construction programs.  The Virtual Construction programs consist of efforts to implement various BIM and Virtual Construction technologies including 3D visualization and coordination, 4D scheduling, 5D estimating, and others.


  • Advocates the use of virtual construction technologies.

  • Responsible for technical support and training for BIM and virtual construction software.

  • Develops and documents project management processes related to BIM and virtual construction.

  • Assists project teams with developing project-specific BIM guidelines and BIM project execution plans.

  • Provide management of VDC services to multiple projects.

  • Create presentation-quality 3D models for proposals, preconstruction, and construction.

  • Develop/review project 3D models and provide constructability reviews, quantity takeoffs, coordination and phasing analysis.

  • Establish BIM/VDC project schedule, goals, and deliverables.

  • Develop project BIM models and lead 3D coordination meetings.

  • Oversee the production, management, and auditing of 3D models in collaboration with subcontractors and design partners.

  • Receive Revit, OpenPlant, AutoCAD, and MicroStation models supplied by the design team and collaborate with the designers to confirm the model attributes needed for accurate quantity calculations are built into the models.

  • Build Construction Revit and Navisworks models that are sequenced with the P6 schedule in order to build a 4D Schedule.

  • Place construction logistics into the project models and run clash detection – crane pads, tower cranes, pump truck locations, material laydown areas, etc.

  • Produce as-built models for owner submission.

  • Perform modeling used to create lift drawings.

  • Transfer and convert models for robotic total station and GPS linework use in true coordinates systems.

  • Occasional travel to project sites across the United States as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 3 years of BIM or VDC experience, competency with BIM and other construction-related software (Autodesk products, Synchro, MicroStation, OpenPlant, Procore, Primavera, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience modeling water and/or wastewater treatment plants is strongly desired.  Other preferred qualifications include:


  • Construction management experience

  • Strong understanding of VDC coordination of building systems

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam or similar

  • Understanding of CPM scheduling

  • Surveying and layout background

  • Understanding and use of robotic total stations, data collectors and GPS

  • Experience using general construction estimating software such as MC2, Hard Dollar, PlanSwift, HCSS, etc.
