Position Description
This position is responsible for providing materials to support both Operations and Project Management. Position is located either at Houston headquarters or in a regional warehouse but provides support to the entire company as needed.

Primary Purpose:


  • Position provides inventory management and investment recovery support to the entire company as needed.

  • Provide inventory level recommendations as well as help create and manage new stockrooms.

  • Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained by tracking return rates and conducting physical inventory audits.

  • Participate in maintenance and support of the Lawson Item Master.

  • Assist Operations in identifying and disposing surplus and obsolete inventory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Work on inventory requirements associated with acquisition integration and divestures.

  • Work with field personnel on a routine basis to set and track minimum and maximum inventory levels.

  • Perform analysis of inventory mix, production demand and interface regarding levels of inventory.

  • Interpret and implement significant details from reports on issues regarding consumer trends and spending.

  • Recommend and implement process improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and ensure best practices.

  • Develop training materials on inventory procedures, the Inventory Audit Policy, and Investment Recovery Policy.

  • Help coordinate and monitor field-conducted inventory audits.

  • Participate in the maintenance and support of the Lawson Item Master.

  • Assist Operations and Project Management by locating needed materials throughout Kinder Morgan.

Investment Recovery:

  • Apply investment recovery practices and approaches consistently.

  • Facilitate surplus sales and redeployments throughout Kinder Morgan.

  • Act as a liaison between the Business Unit and the Investment Recovery Company.

  • Work with internal and external customers to achieve annual investment recovery goal.

  • Execute Purchase Agreements and Bills of Sale.

Project Support:

  • Assist as needed buyers and vendors with material order issues

  • Provide timely updates to Project Management on project material status.

  • Resolve any material discrepancies, shortages or damages.

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of orders for project materials delivered to staging warehouse.

Business & Professional:

  • Perform duties with strict adherence to Kinder Morgan's Corporate Policy.

  • Operate under safety, environmental and ethical guidelines.

  • Apply standards and processes consistently.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting practices related to inventory and surplus sales transactions.

  • Complete special projects as assigned.

  • Mentor and train less experienced team members around policies and procedures.

  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to identify process flow efficiencies and develop standardized procedures.

  • Influence business decisions.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or related discipline is preferred.
Experience / Specific Knowledge:

  • 5-7 years of experience in Materials Management, Purchasing, Operations, Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point.

  • Knowledge of parts to support Turbines, Recips, Compressors, and Auxillary Equipment.

  • Knowledge of materials such as Pipe, Valves, and Fittings.

  • Work efficiently without supervision.

  • Possess ability to organize and prioritize daily work and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues/problems.

  • Possess ability to influence business decisions and procedures.

  • Knowledgeable of accounting practices related to inventory and surplus sales transactions.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be self-directed, take initiative, and be an out-of-the-box thinker.

  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the job.

  • Must be able to multitask while providing timely and accurate turnaround on tasks, sometimes with strict deadlines.

  • Take direction from Procurement Management or Senior level peers.

  • Must be detail-oriented.

  • Must have strong communication (written and verbal), organization, problem-solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with levels of management and employees in corporate, regional and field offices with tact, courtesy and professionalism.

  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must meet medical criteria for use of respiratory protective equipment, if required.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel may be required across a broad geographic region, as determined by Hiring Manager.

  • Job level and salary commensurate with experience and skill sets.

  • May be required to work non-traditional hours.

  • Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.

  • Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned.

  • Perform work in dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions.

  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and complete background check, including credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Lawson Inventory Control, Requisition and Procurement modules.

  • Knowledge of Kinder Morgan business as a whole.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Kinder Morgan business units and shared service departments.
