InSinkErator, the world's largest manufacturer of disposers and hot water dispensers, is currently seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to work in its Racine, WI manufacturing location.

 JOB SUMMARY

This position maintains, troubleshoots and repairs dies, die components, and tooling used in the production process. Manual, CNC equipment and tool room machinery are used regularly. Tool Makers often work in production areas outside of the Tool Room to troubleshoot dies and tooling in presses. Personnel must comply with safety and work rules for the area they are working in and follow all required safety practices.

This job may require handling hazardous waste. Candidate shall be trained within the department at a minimum of once per year to properly handle and accumulate hazardous waste in accordance with applicable federal and state environmental regulations and InSinkErator environmental procedures. Training shall be either on-the-job or a handout of written procedures.

 

This is a Safety Sensitive position. Employees in this classification may be randomly screened under the InSinkErator Substance Abuse policy. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain stamping dies (all types), die components and production tooling. Troubleshooting a die in a press may be required. Install and adjust die and tooling components as necessary

  • Maintain production tooling within quality standards
  • Interpret complex detail and component drawings. Produce parts to print tolerances

  • Communicate effectively with operators, set-up personnel, and supervisors on all three shifts regarding tooling requirements, and die and equipment status

  • Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc. 

  • Comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, and clean/restock area at end of shift

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadman

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


  • Requires a state-indentured Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship
  • OR 10 years equivalent experience
  • Must be familiar with stamping dies of all types. Progressive and/or transfer die knowledge is a plus

  • ProtoTrak or other CNC experience is a plus

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings; and safely operate all tool room machinery

  • Demonstrated understanding of modern punch press principles

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with whole numbers and decimals; understand geometric functions and perform basic calculations; and perform trigonometry calculations as needed

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, lead personnel, and supervisors

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while maintaining acceptable levels of productivity
