Summary:
Intermediate warehousing position that is expected complete all tasks under general supervision. Material Handler 2 performs a variety of warehouse functions including but not limited to receiving, shipping, manufacturing support, and inventory control. Position in responsible for completing the physical and systematic movement of material in accordance with all safety, cGMP, and quality procedures. Position is expected to transact all material timely and compile and maintain all required documents for material movement as per quality procedures. This position may work with raw materials, dangerous goods, WIP materials, finished goods, returned goods, R&D materials, etc.

Functional Description: Support Individual Contributor

Ensures security and accountability of inventory through transaction documentation, process and procedure verification, and system review. Develops and executes replenishment strategies; conducts physical inventories and leads cycle counts. Analyzes and, when able, corrects cycle count discrepancies. Audits incoming and outgoing shipments to assure quality and accuracy. Compiles and documents all transactions for data entry. Responsible for the physical receipt, storage, pick, pack, ship, transport and delivery of inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Completes all warehousing activities including but not limited to receiving, shipping, manufacturing support, and inventory control in compliance with Safety, cGMP, and Quality Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Unload, load, put away and retrieve material utilizing hand trucks, powered forklifts, or other material handling equipment.

  • Verifies material information including PO #, part #, lot #, serial #, quantity, and expiration date for accuracy prior to receiving/pulling materials.

  • Support inventory reconciliation activity via cycle counts and inventory investigations

  • Responsible for accurate and timely transaction of materials into ERP system. Has robust knowledge of different ERP transactions around material movements and inventory storage.

  • Responsible for preparing paperwork to support material receipt and movement including but not limited to raw material inspection paperwork, packing slips, BOLs, ASNs, commercial invoices, dangerous good forms, etc.

  • Communicates effectively and professionally via email/phone with internal customers. Helps investigate and resolve customer complaints related to material receipt/movement.

  • Utilize a variety of computer programs to complete warehousing functions including but not limited to FedEx ship manager, Oracle, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Agile.

  • Utilize a variety of material handling equipment including but not limited to pallet jacks, electric forklifts (sit-down and stand-up), handheld computers, vehicle mounted computers, voice picking technology, conveyors, labeling/packing machines, etc.

  • Schedules inbound/outbound freight according to promised delivery dates, capacity, and manufacturing schedules.

  • Coordinates international shipments and corresponding paperwork.

  • Performs basic reporting functions including end of shift reports and/or completes data entry activities to support performance metrics.

  • Consistently achieves performance metrics including but not limited to accuracy, productivity, and attendance.

  • Can conduct basic root cause analysis and suggest corrective actions around performance issues.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications:


  • 1-4 years of experience in material handling role.

  • 1+ year experience in a cGMP environment

  • 1+ year experience completing transactions in ERP system

  • 1+ year experience operating electric powered material handling equipment

  • Basic computer data entry skills

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Class C license and clean driving record.

  • Experience with Oracle ERP and/or Hi Jump WMS

  • Knowledge of or experience in 5S/lean/ six sigma environment

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience and a High School diploma/certificate or equivalent.

Travel Required: 0 - 24%

Functional/Business Knowledge:


  • Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.

  • Applies acquired job and company knowledge of policies and procedures to complete semi-routine tasks.

Scope:


  • Work at this level requires following standardized methods and under immediate supervision on assignments that are semi-routine in nature.

  • Follows pre-established guidelines and procedures with minimal choice as to method of performance of the work.

  • Has contact with employees at other levels within the company. Information exchanged is generally non-complex.

Judgement:


  • Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.

  • Works under close supervision.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
