Position Overview

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment including but not limited to front-end wheel loader, skid steer, etc. in order to recycle construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, etc. This position will require overnight travel outside of normal operating areas from 50 – 75% of the season. Accommodations will be made for overnight travel.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently by utilizing equipment within its designed parameters.

  • Travel to and from various locations that can include other areas within the Northwest Region and will include overnight travel at times.

  • Perform general clean-up, maintenance and housekeeping tasks at the crusher.

  • Shovel excess materials from around conveyors and other areas to prevent build up.

  • Operate loader to supply materials to the crusher plant trucks.

  • Drive haul truck to transport and dump crushed rock within the plant.

  • Perform general maintenance (i.e. oiling, greasing plant equipment) as directed and refer major problems to the supervisor.

  • Keep machines cleaned and maintained.

  • Keep time and material records.

  • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.

  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.

  • Regular and timely attendance.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred.

  • Two years’ experience in construction or related field preferred.

  • Welding and cutting skills preferred.

  • Equipment operation experience preferred.  

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • AWKWARD POSITIONS – getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground

  • FLEXIBILITY – awkward reaches                

  • BALANCE – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.   

  • VISION – 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions

  • HEARING – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • This position will include overnight travel up to 50-75% of the peak season.
