Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Clinician/Program Director is a licensed master's prepared clinician or a licensed Psychologist who is responsible for the oversight of the Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) program operations, as well as clinical treatment delivery for patients. The Clinician/Program Director will provide supervision to staff, be the primary designee for communications between JBCT stakeholders (the Sheriff's Office, Department of State Hospitals [DSH], the courts, etc.), monitor program outcomes and success, maintain Policy & Procedure adherence, and provide clinical treatment and direction/consultation as needed.

Education:

  • Master's Degree with associated licensure as a LMFT, LCSW or related discipline
Experience:

  • One + years' experience
  • Knowledge of 1370/IST patients and treatment and patients with major mental illnesses
  • Skillful in group facilitation
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience
Licenses/Certifications:

  • LMFT or LCSW
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA

Compliance:

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the course of employment.
  • Program Director:
  • Provide general oversight and ensure program compliance to align with the Department of State Hospitals and Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual.
  • Act as the primary designee to communicate with JBCT partners such as the DSH, Sheriff's Office and local courts.
  • Work cooperatively with the Sheriff's Office team and foster supportive relationships between staff and Sheriff's Deputies/Officers.
  • Conduct monthly audits with the support of the Administrative Assistant to guarantee program compliance.
  • Manage personnel corrective action with the assistant of the HSA/PM.
  • Lead the weekly Treatment Team meeting, review patient Treatment Plans, and provide leadership as it relates to patient admissions, transfers, discharges, etc.
  • Complete the initial DSH Screening Form for incoming patients and waitlisted patients, after reviewing the PMU commitment packet.
  • Read, approve, and sign-off of all reports and communications going to Court.
  • Provide clinical support to the Clinician and Trainer, as needed.
  • Regularly attend groups within the milieu to assure program compliance and sound delivery of clinical treatment and ensure milieu schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate IMO/ALJ processes, as needed.
  • Fill in for Clinician and/or Trainer as needed to include daily sick calls, daily or weekly psych- educational groups, daily or weekly competency educational training groups, etc.
  • Document all findings in inmate's record providing written summaries of history and treatment course or other documentation requirements as outlined by the company and Facility, as needed.
  • May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staff.
  • May assist in orientation and training of new employees.

  • Clinician
  • Strict adherence to DSH and company Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual as it relates to the duties of the Clinician.
  • Hold daily, individual (1:1) sick calls and conduct weekly/daily psycho-educational groups for mentally ill and IST patient-inmates.
  • Obtain medication history, verify current medication, consult with medical provider/psychiatrist to continue psychotropic medications, and discuss conditions falling outside protocol perimeters.
  • Follow Department of State Hospital Policies and Procedures for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; assist the JBCT psychologist with producing timely court reports; work cooperatively with jail custody staff and JBCT Deputy.
  • Work supportively with the Sheriff's Office team and foster positive relationships between staff and Sheriff's Deputies/Officers.
  • Develop and regularly update treatment plans and participate in a weekly, multi-disciplinary Treatment Team meeting.
  • Facilitate individual (1:1) clinical contacts with patients to support psycho-social progress, as it relates to competency (eg: cognitive-behavioral techniques, anger/anxiety management, etc.).
  • Coordinate discharge planning and aftercare plans through available community resources.
  • Document all findings in patient's record providing written summaries of history and treatment course or other documentation requirements as outlined by the company and Facility.
  • May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staff.
  • May assist in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
