Lead Product Manager at Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, California

Posted in General Business 30+ days ago.

Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

Team Name:
Battle.net & Online Products

Job Title: Lead Product Manager

Requisition ID: R005426

Job Description:
The Battle.net & Online Products organization is home to 300+ superpowered engineers, product managers, and designers focused on the technology that powers Blizzard Entertainment's games. Whether you're playing one of our titles, chatting with friends, or just shopping online, B&OP ensures that our players are immersed in engaging, exciting, and secure experiences.

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to help drive the future vision and strategy of our on-the-web and in-game checkout product. Starting from the moment a player enters a purchasing context and decides they have found a game or product they are interested in buying all the way through the checkout flow to the point where they have successfully completed a digital transaction and now have a shiny entitlement on their Battle.net account, this individual will partner with their fellow Tech and Design Leads to ensure our players have a best-in-class checkout experience. In addition to one-time checkout, this team also owns our back-end subscription engine capability, so understanding how recurring payments work is important. While payment expertise is a big plus, this role and team does not own our payment processing gateway: that is owned by a partner team in our organization, which this team works very closely with.

Covid-19 Hiring Update: We've transitioned to a work-from-home model and we're continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person's circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert at how Ecommerce systems and experiences work, particularly within the buying context where a user has made a decision to purchase a product and is now in a checkout flow

  • Champion the product by having a passion for deeply understanding the needs and challenges of our customers: look directly into our analytics solutions, identify problems, and partner with design and tech to generate solutions and deliver them iteratively for our players

  • Think holistically through the user journey, including email communications for one-time and auto-recurring transactions

  • Work closely with our game teams to ensure our checkout solution that is embedded in their games is an awesome and tightly integrated experience for players to start and complete their transaction of a digital in-game item

  • Understand, maintain and drive forward our massive subscription engine and its recurring payment capabilities: in addition to having a functional understanding of the technology and how it works, be an expert at how this works in partnership with our game teams to enable cool player experiences

  • Develop schedules and partner with team leadership to own execution and delivery of projects throughout their development lifecycle

  • Anticipate issues, roadblocks and make tradeoffs to ensure the team is capable of delivering a project at a high degree of quality within time constraints

Requirements

  • Passion for the world of Ecommerce

  • A metrics-driven approach and ability to dive into data sources to demonstrate your strategy and results.

  • Able to succeed within an everchanging environment, pushing the bleeding edge of new features while maintaining reliability and stability

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a product or program manager, building world-class platforms and services, ideally in the Ecommerce domain

  • Experience managing teams of PMs and leading multiple simultaneous projects through the full software development life cycle

  • Extraordinary verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable giving presentations to large groups and senior management.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a love for collaboration

  • Demonstrated success in delivering large, projects across multiple organizations

  • Highly technical background and deep understanding of APIs and back-end systems

  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative; enthusiastic "can-do" attitude is a must

Pluses

  • Experience building platform features that serves millions of customers daily, especially for gaming products

  • Expertise in JIRA, Confluence, or comparable team collaboration applications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated passion for games
