Primary Responsibility | The College of Education at Lipscomb University invites applications for a full-time position as assistant/associate professor of education in the special education programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to special education (on-campus, off-campus, and online); conduct research and grant writing activities; conduct outreach and public service activities; and serve as faculty mentor and advisor. Courses are offered in flexible formats (online hybrid, weekends, evenings, and intensive summer courses), so applicants must be comfortable teaching both online and face-to-face in varied formats. Applicants should be knowledgeable about best practices in special education, special education law, IEP development, instructional methods, and research-based interventions. |

Additional Comments & Information | Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in education, special education or a related field and have extensive classroom experience teaching in the K-12 special education environments. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and research, successful grant writing; and experience in varied course offerings. Applicants are expected to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and constituencies and the ability to use technology to enhance learning. In addition, applicants are expected to have good organizational, interpersonal and collaborative skills, as well as effective speaking, communication and presentation skills. Experience in problem-based learning, teaching with an array of distance learning technologies, teaching in blended learning format, and evidence of management skills applicable to an academic program are desired. |
