Job Summary
Responsible for the accurate operation of all types of machinery to ensure quality parts are provided to the customer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate at least four (4) types of machines in the general machine area
Make changes and adjustments of tooling in all types of machines.
Make minor adjustments on equipment as necessary.
Assist in preparing set-up sheets and procedures.
Instruct less skilled employees in the operation or set up of any CNC lathes.
Perform inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments.
Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and production area in good working order.
Assist management in keeping supplies on order.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow instructions; written and/or verbal; from the production supervisors.
Produce 100% high quality, high volume parts, with emphasis on reducing cycle time.
Insure that all parts are cleaned, counted, de-burred and handled properly.
Comply with and support all aspects of the company's quality management program.
Regular attendance and punctuality is required
Overtime, including weekends, as needed could be mandatory
Must wear all PPE required for the specific work area

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
Two years experience in machining or one (1) year as general machine "B".
Must have all tools necessary to perform as an "A" general machinist.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner
General understanding of basic machine operation and tool grinding.
Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of proper use of safety equipment; i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, and work boots where necessary.
PHYSICALS DEMANDS & WORK ENVIROMENT
Standing/sitting on a stool at one station for up to two hours at a time
Handle small parts up to 25 pounds with fingers and hands.
Lifting up to 40 pounds
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
Use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.
Work with and handle parts in cutting oil and kerosene.
Work usually takes place in a manufacturing environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements.
