Job Summary


Responsible for the accurate operation of all types of machinery to ensure quality parts are provided to the customer.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Set up and operate at least four (4) types of machines in the general machine area

  • Make changes and adjustments of tooling in all types of machines.

  • Make minor adjustments on equipment as necessary.

  • Assist in preparing set-up sheets and procedures.

  • Instruct less skilled employees in the operation or set up of any CNC lathes.

  • Perform inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments.

  • Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and production area in good working order.

  • Assist management in keeping supplies on order.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Follow instructions; written and/or verbal; from the production supervisors.

  • Produce 100% high quality, high volume parts, with emphasis on reducing cycle time.

  • Insure that all parts are cleaned, counted, de-burred and handled properly.

  • Comply with and support all aspects of the company's quality management program.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality is required

  • Overtime, including weekends, as needed could be mandatory

  • Must wear all PPE required for the specific work area

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS



  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.

  • Two years experience in machining or one (1) year as general machine "B".

  • Must have all tools necessary to perform as an "A" general machinist.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings


REASONING ABILITY



  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner

  • General understanding of basic machine operation and tool grinding.

  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.

  • Knowledge of proper use of safety equipment; i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, and work boots where necessary.


PHYSICALS DEMANDS & WORK ENVIROMENT



  • Standing/sitting on a stool at one station for up to two hours at a time

  • Handle small parts up to 25 pounds with fingers and hands.

  • Lifting up to 40 pounds

  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.

  • Use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.

  • Work with and handle parts in cutting oil and kerosene.

  • Work usually takes place in a manufacturing environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements.
