Role - Buyer-Expediter

Performs a variety of activities related to the procurement of products and supplies in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. These activities include the auditing of freight bills, purchase order expediting, the creation and articulation of planning models, purchasing, negotiating, and communication with internal and external contacts. This position requires the use of initiative, independent judgment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities -

• Expedites purchase orders from order placement through receipt


• Conducts Freight cost reconciliation for a wide variety of carriers


• This position must communicate effectively with both internal and external contacts.


• Creates and administers material planning models, and vendor performance reports


• Processes unique purchasing transactions according to company policy and AISO or ISO standards, industry specifications, and government regulations.


• Identifies and selects vendors to procure products, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date and places orders.


• Arranges for shipping of items from vendors to arrive in a timely and cost effective manner.


• In some instances the buyer will be responsible for the oversite of customs requirements


• Works with Product Manager to optimize sales/achieve sales forecast, sales order file rates, vendor performance & inventory turns.


• KPI's: Product Line Sales to Forecast, Sales Order Fill Rates, Inventory Turns


• Builds and maintains effective working relationships with vendors and internal personnel.


• Logistics planning and freight cost reduction.

Knowledge & Skills Required -

• Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.


• Knowledge of materials, products, associated with the aerospace industry and the industrial seal industry.


• Superior skill in both verbal and written communication


• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.


• Must be Detail oriented


• Experience with ERP or MRP systems or purchasing software


• Above average Microsoft office skills

Experience & Education Required -

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of buying experience; OR, Five years of buying experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Ability to sit and work at a computer most of the day in an office environment
