Job Description:

The Digital Channel Manager will support the UPS Capital Marketing Team in the scaling of our Digital Insurance offerings via partner channels. He/She will research and identify channel partner programs, establish and build partner relationships, and negotiate partner agreements based on the pre-determined commercial matrixes. Once established, this manager will create and execute marketing programs and targeted campaigns to grow volume, revenue, and profit within each partner. He/She will collaborate with other groups to ensure the right messages get to the consumer through all communication channels. The Digital Channel Manager will identify target markets, research buying behaviors, and translate findings into creative value propositions. He/She must also offer perspective on product improvements and customized content for their supported channel. This manager will monitor and report performance of channel programs to senior management, explain any variance to plan and outline suggested approach to improve growth. He/She must possess strong commercial acumen and be comfortable in client-facing situations with an emphasis on the ability to effectively articulate value creation through synergies between UPS Capital, the channel and the partner.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Researches and identifies platforms, marketplaces or multi carrier shipping providers as potential partner opportunities for his/her owned channel
  • Leads initial engagement discussions to explore and understand the business model and total estimated opportunity of potential partners
  • Participates in development of marketing strategy, develops value propositions for selected channel partners and presents UPS Capital capabilities to selected partners
  • Develops project plans and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that projects will be completed on time and according to specifications
  • Conducts brainstorming sessions with internal and external groups within areas of UPS’s strategic focus to identify new concepts or enhancements to UPS products and/or programs
  • Reviews annual situation assessment (i.e., SWOT [strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats] analysis for each channel partner to understand past performance of products and services, assess continued alignment to UPS Capital’s vision and goals, and develop recommended projects/plans/programs for continued growth
  • Identifies strategic implementation opportunities of key customer issues to develop alternatives in incentive plans, product repositioning and new approaches to the marketplace
  • Analyzes competitors’ messages (e.g., advertising, trade show sponsorships, marketing campaigns, etc.) to understand their market position and make strategic recommendations for UPSC offerings
  • Utilizes advanced Access and Data Warehouse skills to complete reports and analyses
  • Develops pricing response recommendations & determines relevant impact to internal department & systems (e.g., Pricing, Billing, Sales, etc.) to submit to management (e.g., Revenue Mgmt Strategy Manager, Rev Mgmt Strategy Director, etc.) for input and approval consideration
  • Provides revenue management guidance (e.g., training, clarification of guidelines, policies, procedures, etc.) to internal departments (e.g., Sales, Pricing, Billing, etc.) to support business decisions and operations

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates strong communication, presentation development, and negotiation capabilities – must be comfortable speaking to and in front of a variety of different audiences and senior leadership
  • Applies analytics and logic to select and recommend target segments; identifies and completes processes to classify partners, merchants and users into targeted segments; profiles needs, expectations, and business processes of all groups within the target segments; able to create succinct, customer centric value statements focused on the most salient product/service benefits supported by solid customer insights
  • Adept at thoroughly defining problems and structuring analytical paths to solving them; disaggregates problems into key issues to efficiently solve them; selects efficient analytical approaches that fit the situation
  • Maintains basic awareness of potential regulations that could impact product or segment; monitors emerging technologies and potential impact on the ways supply chain insurance companies serve customers
  • Establishes appropriate and well defined marketing objectives, strategies and programs; identifies and evaluates a range of alternative strategies to achieve objectives
  • Establishes clearly defined digital demand generation programs; creates a plan defining the appropriate sequencing of promotional tactics and tracks plan performance; establishes forecasted impact of programs backed by research and past performance analysis identifies the select set of promotional tactics that efficiently achieve objectives and strategies; ensures programs and solutions are established to maximize the value of relationships with customers across the dimensions of service, value delivery and economic return
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive marketplace assessment of customers, competitors, and other relevant market factors; gains new and unique customer insights through data modeling, marketing research, frontline personnel interviews and direct customer engagement; establishes learning objectives and plans to fill gaps in knowledge; analyzes issues for root causes and opportunities to prioritize key issues; evaluates, from both a partner and merchant’s perspective, the experience of engaging with UPS Capital across all touch-points in order to identify improvement opportunities; demonstrates understanding of and monitors the performance of customer sub-segments across the conversion, penetration, retention, and win back cycle for their respective channel
  • Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives
  • Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology appropriately
