SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and coordinating the distribution functions of freight movement including shipments to both domestic and international customers, distribution centers, warehouses, etc.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Create profitable and competitive rates to ensure profit margins are maximized while meeting customer requirements. Review costs and other marketing data to develop competitive rate offerings. Analyze vendors to ensure they qualify and negotiate service contracts. Support development and prioritization of employee training and development. Establish performance objectives, internal/customer metrics and continuous improvement opportunities. Support business development sales and marketing efforts as needed. Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all reports and records regarding transportation operations. Manage the scheduling of shipments to ensure most economical utilization of carries based on service parameters. Work directly with operations to resolve any problems associated with scheduling and dispatching. Oversee company interests in coordination with those of its customers. Identify enhancement opportunities and implement solutions for improvement.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, administration, transportation and logistics, or related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE: 5 - 10 years of domestic and/or international transportation experience, with experience/knowledge in account management with a logistics organization preferred. 3 - 5 years experience in a supervisory or management position.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word; knowledge of U.S. transportation, DOT regulations and import/export regulations.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment. Ability to gather, interpret, report and use data and other information concerning assigned activities. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Skilled in preparing clear and concise documents, including but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences and other written materials. Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of import forwarding and customs brokerage in a domestic and/or international capacity. Familiar with logistics and transportation principles, concepts and methodologies including inventory management, moving product via various modes, cost analysis and resource optimization.

OTHER: Travel may be required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.

FLSA STATUS: The position is Exempt. May require the ability to work overtime to meet required deadlines. All work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health are expected to be respected and complied.
