The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky is a 427-bed nursing home facility. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for those veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and special care for veterans with Memory Care needs.
The Home opened in 1888 to care for veterans of the Civil War and has been in continuous operation since. We pride ourselves in providing superior care to Ohio’s veterans. Watch the video below for more information on our homes.

A candidate who…
Possesses a 3rd Class Stationary Steam Engineer license
Is highly motivated in performing job duties
Possesses great observational skills
Is able to work alone on most tasks
Is well versed in safety practices in Boiler Operation
Is willing to work a flexible schedule, when needed
Has the ability to understand manuals & verbal instruction
Is flexible, proactive, resourceful, efficient, and professional
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operates boilers & related mechanical equipment, reads gauges, checks equipment for proper functioning & maintains logs
Cleans & maintains boiler & related equipment (e.g., feed water pumps, oil pumps, electric motors, turbines, air compressor, water regulators, gear boxes, fans, water softeners)
Tests boiler water & treats same with chemicals
Performs steam fitting & plumbing duties as related to boiler maintenance
Prepares boilers for inspection
Performs miscellaneous duties (e.g., cleans boiler room, hauls coal & ashes, cleans shower & locker room, etc.)
