Purpose of Job As the process expert for international business flows into and out of North America, this position is responsible for providing the strategic leadership, vision and alignment necessary to optimize Clariant's global footprint. This person is a key change agent and business solution provider leveraging subject matter expertise and an ability to lead geographically dispersed teams to focus on communication, collaboration and alignment between Regional Logistics Services, Business Units, Service Units and GBS and drive a culture of continuous improvement. Through deployment of sustainable and cost efficient import/export processes this position is a key strategic partner in supporting the growth targets set by the Business Units. In addition, this position is responsible for managing Clariant's supply chain security program (C-TPAT) and for setting the trade compliance guidelines for Clariant in North America, advising on strategic trade relevant topics, and implementing executable processes, policies and procedures.



Responsibilities


  • Develops, coordinates and deploys all foreign trade and customs compliance programs within the region

  • Sets and manages department budget in support of company goals

  • Develops processes, policies and operational targets to meet service levels and ensure compliance

  • Manages Clariant's supply chain security program - C-TPAT

  • Oversees policies and procedures to manage Free Trade Agreements (USMCA etc.)

  • Supports realization of Clariant Excellence projects within Regional Logistics

  • Ensures efficient international logistics services together with stakeholders to meet BU's service/cost objectives

  • Ensures compliance with all customs and foreign trade compliance regs to mitigate risk and minimize delays

  • Manages, motivates and develops employees in line with management principles

  • Proposes development plans for subordinates

  • Works closely with all BUs/SUs to improve understanding of, and compliance with, foreign trade regulations

  • Leads process optimization projects with service providers to ensure continuous improvement



Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in a global business related field such as int'l supply chain logistics, int'l business administration/ foreign trade etc. Advanced degree preferred

  • 6+ years' experience in importing/exporting and foreign trade, international finance, international marketing, or international sales.

  • Experience in a fast paced environment, able to succeed in a multinational team environment working across multiple time zones, project and priorities.

  • Full understanding of import and export flows, Supply Chain, CSD operations, working experience in a BU is an advantage

  • On-going certifications in int'l business administration/customs and export compliance/foreign trade

  • Problem solving and project management (LEAN Sigma Green or Black belt an advantage)

  • Skill set to work across cultures (foreign language and/or experience working/living overseas an advantage)

  • Customs brokerage license and familiarity with trade agreements such as USMCA, duty drawback and export controls an advantage
