Job Summary

This position works with guidance from the supervisor to prepare and present routine reports and occasionally lead routine problem solving efforts. The position will maintain effective working relationships with others.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities Working under supervision, the incumbent will:
• Performs assigned task with guideance from supervison
• Assemble and collate issue specific information to support studies
• Assist in organization and occasionally lead assigned projects
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Prepare and present routine reports 
• Participate in special projects, committee assignments and routine problem solving efforts as requested

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Working independently, the incumbent:

• Prioritizes and performs task as required to meet station and department objectives


• Investigates and analyzes complex issues


• Coordinates assigned projects, studies and initiatives through completion


• Complies with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment


• Prepares and presents reports including recommendations to resolve complex issues


• Participates in and on occasion leads special projects and committees


• Leads complex problem solving efforts

Required Minimum Education and Experience

• 4 yrs. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. 


• > 2 yrs. related job experience


• Job level based on years of related experience

 Skill Requirements

• Proficient computer skills in standard Windows programs (Excel, Word, etc.)


• Communicate complex issues effectively through written and verbal communication


• Effectively advocate and collaborate across organizational boundaries


• In-depth understanding of power plant equipment and systems


• Able to utilize out-of-the-box thinking to develop multiple technically-sound solutions


• Able to apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issues

Position Specific Job Duties and Skill Requirements

• Trend and monitor performance of mechanical systems with an in-depth understanding of the function of components and their impact on system performance.


• Understand component failure modes and mechanisms, develop troubleshooting, and perform basic failure analysis.


• Work with vendors to support equipment reliability, including parts selection, failure analysis and repair, and field service of components.


• Produce health reports on mechanical systems and components and develop action plans to improve system reliability and performance.


• Participate with industry groups and develop industry peer relationships for benchmarking and improving site programs.


• Use past performance, industry standards and guidance, and system knowledge to develop maintenance strategies.


• Understand and ensure system adherence to Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing basis requirements as well as ASME, ANSI, etc. code requirements.


• Identify system vulnerabilities that could adversely affect plant performance and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate failures.


• Maintain a big picture view of mechanical systems to maximize system reliability through preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and long-term asset management. 

Work Environment

• Occasional long, irregular hours including work in excess of 12-hour days for extended periods


• Occasional travel between company facilities, and occasional overnight travel


• Occasional weeks of ‘on-call’ engineering response to emergent plant issues
