Job Description:

ERM is seeking a motivated market-facing consultant to join North America’s Corporate Sustainability Service team as a Senior Consultant, Sustainability Strategy & Disclosure, with a primary focus on growing the business and delivering client work. The role will be based in Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate will have a broad experience and subject matter expertise in corporate sustainability, strategy, reporting and disclosure, and ESG; she/he will have a proven track record of helping clients design sustainability/ESG strategies, deliver sustainability/ESG reporting, and/or realize strategy implementation programmes. She/he will be able to work with and support a first class delivery team.

Position

This position’s key duties will be to lead sustainability strategy and disclosure projects, and to contribute to business development and activities in our Corporate Sustainability advisory service area (i.e. sustainability strategy and disclosure) to ensure we make a significant and measurable change in moving companies towards sustainable business models

Primary Responsibilities

Managing Clients and Projects


  • Builds strong and trusted relationships with clients and/or business partners

  • Demonstrates expertise relating to our core service areas of sustainability strategy and disclosure 

  • Thinks strategically in order to influence decision-makers and outcomes

  • Distills complexity from detail to effectively coach colleagues to deliver high-quality outputs

  • Demonstrates strong project management skills and oversight through the project lifecycle, including scoping, budget and delivery

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a mastery of PowerPoint

 Teamwork and Organization


  • Effectively collaborates internally to bring our services to existing clients

  • Enhances ERM’s capability to sell and deliver Corporate Sustainability services

  • Identifies, evaluates, cultivates and manages partnerships and relationships with senior clients, external stakeholders and key opinion leaders

  • Demonstrates strong people management skills; particularly the ability to support, coach and celebrate others in order to advance employee engagement and achieve results

  • Acts as advisor and supports projects in North America and beyond as needed

Business Development Activities


  • Supports Account Management teams and Business Unit (BU) in meeting sales goals

  • Supports new business development campaigns, proposals and pitches

The successful candidate will be accountable for meeting personal billability at a budgeted rate, personal sales contribution targets and other relevant targets.

Key Skills & Competencies

Preference will be given to applicants who have the following key skills and competencies:


  • Graduate Degree in relevant field

  • A minimum of six years of prior experience in an advisory position with responsibilities for client delivery and/or business development

  • Track record in building strong and trusting relationships with clients and partners

  • Structured and effective communicator that can shape and deliver messages to executive level and facilitate effective client engagements

  • Experience of line management and/or contributing to the professional development of other teammates is a plus

Due to COVID-19 everybody at ERM is working from home. When it is safe to return to working in an office, this role will be based from our Washington DC office.
