Position Overview

The Epic Clarity BI Analyst supports the mission of OCHIN by designing, developing, testing, documenting, maintaining, and troubleshooting reports across a broad platform of business intelligence tools. As a member of OCHIN’s Population Health/Reporting Analytics department, the BIA role supports the full lifecycle of projects particularly the requirements definitions, quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing phases of projects. This role requires an above-average ability and desire to communicate in email, via JIRA tickets, and over the phone, as well as to effectively balance multiple competing priorities.

This position has strong people connection to our Clinic Membership, to our coworkers at OCHIN and other business partners. It demands an above average ability and desire to communicate in email, via JIRA ticketing response or over the phone.

Essential Duties


  • Responsible for the execution of full reporting lifecycle from design, development, testing, documentation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Complete work towards closing tickets, including triage, research, and communication with OCHIN members

  • Develop and update technical documentation for reporting systems

  • Work and manage JIRA tickets independently

  • Lead and drive requirement gathering meetings with experts in a variety of fields and define systems scope and objectives of business requirements, including documentation of requirements (i.e. use cases) and relevant translation into system requirement specifications.

  • Display knowledge of the underlying language of OCHIN’s data systems (SQL, M/Cache) and OCHIN’s business intelligence toolset (SQL, Epic Cogito, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Tableau)

  • Design, build, test, and document technical work products

  • Support internal and external reporting needs of the organization

  • Participate in process improvement efforts

  • Pursue relevant Epic proficiencies/certification where determined by OCHIN’s business needs

  • Act as a technical liaison between users of the OCHIN reporting systems and the OCHIN technical reporting environment

  • Act as a consultant to members by training end-users and providing on-going technical support, service, and education

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field preferred.

  • At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in a Healthcare, Information Technology, or related field, required.

  • High technical proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools like Management Studio required, including:

    • Developing database objects including Tables, Views, and Stored Procedures.

    • Experience and knowledge using SQL and T-SQL for report development initiatives.



  • High technical proficiency building and supporting complex reports in Epic Cogito (Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, SlicerDicer) required; experience with other Epic reporting tools (web-based dashboards, graph package, cubes) preferred.

  • Proficiency writing complex SQL reports using with Epic’s Clarity reporting database strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency developing reports in SAP Business Objects and/or Crystal Reports or a similar tool strongly preferred, including:

    • Designing, developing, and testing reports.

    • Experience optimizing, altering, and maintaining complex reports.

    • Troubleshooting problems with reports that have been developed by others.



  • Experience with Epic Practice Management and Electronic Health Record applications strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Tableau Desktop preferred.

  • This position is 100% remote.  Work from home requirements are:


    • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment.

    • High Speed Internet Service.

    • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace.



  • Travel may be required based on business requirements for OCHIN Go-Live events, 1-2 trips per year
