Job Description:

The Legal Technology Solution Lead assists in assessing clients’ current legal practice technology landscape, in concert with an understanding of the Client’s enterprise technology,  to develop recommendations for future design and  modernization efforts. This role is focused on driving fast and effective results while providing upfront solutioning for an ideal future state, mindful of integration requirements and broader organizational needs. This role is a key leader in the sales and business development lifecycle  working as part of a broader digital legal transformation team, and responsible for  managing client engagements and relationships with thie primary focus of digital.  This role will have a keen understanding of UnitedLex’s proprietary software, along with key legal market technology, and be able to effectively relay the impact and value future design recommendations will provide the client.  As part of the Digital Legal Transformation team, this person will help drive a team culture that exemplifies entrepreneurship, collaboration and professional development.

Responsibilities


  • Contribute to development of the strategic direction and business model for UnitedLex’s Digital Legal Transformation practice

  • Partner with key client stakeholders at the executive level to understand needs and drive solutions that are mindful of organizational objectives and business requirements

  • Assess current client technology landscapes, identifying and understanding pain points. Design technology strategy, efficiency enablement and implications on resource requirements   

  • Translate clients digital needs into concrete DLX solutions. Design and execute architecture blueprint to support the strategy.

  • Develop road maps for implementing solutions from immediate goals to ultimate future state environments. Provide the vision and work with UnitedLex Product Management and /or architects to translate roadmap into tactical plans

  • Advise on global data privacy restrictions and ensure compliance and best practices are consistently followed

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of legal technologies to define target architectures and digitalization processes

  • Be well versed in integration strategy and approach, and able to recommend solutions that take advantage of the robotics spectrum (e.g. Minibots, RPA, Chatbot & Digital Assistants, AI) Enhance UnitedLex brand recognition and reputation via market awareness activities, including speaking opportunities, white papers and articles

  • Effectively support the development of new business and the expansion of existing client accounts via exemplary service.

  • Lead, inspire and coach Associate and Manager-level team members; foster an environment of continuous learning and development while growing their leadership and technical skills.

Qualifications


  • Bachelors or Masters Degree  in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience, including at least 5 years’ architecting and/or designing technology solutions in a complex corporate legal environment; 5+ years’ experience in leadership role

  • Recognized technology expert in the legal space who can advise at a strategic level and is able to solution around existing limitations and unique needs

  • Experience with a breadth of legal technologies for department and financial management, document/knowledge management, collaboration, productivity enabling systems, workflow tools, and practice area specific tools

  • Keen understanding of technology infrastructure with a broad experience across operating systems, and databases

  • Ability to translate short and long term plans into design and implementation of current and future features, applications or systems

  • Working knowledge of development methodologies (i.e. DevOps, Agile, SDLC, etc.), tools, and hands on expertise across all core technology stacks

  • Extensive experience in high level system planning, design, development, maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Experience independently managing technology improvement efforts from requirements gathering through development lifecycle

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences with the ability and credibility to foster client trust and buy-in

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities simultaneously

  • Team player with proven ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally

  • The candidate should communicate with ease in C-level executive meetings and demonstrate a seasoned, and experience presence

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
