A Day in the Life

The Product Consultant position is an upstream marketing opportunity with responsibility for the strategy and pipeline for the Interventional Pain business. Working closely with the Global Marketing Director, you will partner in the development of the strategic plan including the creation of opportunity assessments and business plans for new market opportunities. To guide the strategic direction of the business and better understand the market opportunities, you will partner in the collection of market research and voice of customer data.

In this highly visible and critical role, you will also be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing business development, R&D and market expansion projects in accordance with the strategy. You will work to identify and create opportunity assessments (organic and in-organic) including in-depth analysis, financial modeling and strategic prioritization for new interventional Pain projects. As the internal champion for new pipeline opportunities, you will have excellent visibility to upper management including the opportunity to prepare and present project proposals to executive management for approval and funding. Upon approval, you will partner with business development, R&D, finance, downstream marketing and other cross-functional teams to execute the projects to the timelines, cost assumptions, and revenue expectations outlined in the business plan.

As Product Consultant, you will support the General Manager and Global Marketing Director in setting key milestones and being held accountable for driving the product portfolio pipeline through organic and non-organic projects. And, also provide indirect leadership opportunities in working with a diverse cross-functional team and opportunities for increased visibility with executive leadership.


  • Conduct market research and collect voice of customer data to guide the strategic direction of the Interventional Pain business
  • Partner in the development of the Interventional Pain strategic plan
  • Identify and create opportunity assessments (organic and in-organic) including in-depth analysis, financial modeling, and strategic prioritization for new Interventional Pain pipeline projects in alignment with strategic plan
  • Prepare business plan presentations with recommendations to executive management
  • Partner with business development, R&D, finance, downstream marketing and other cross-functional teams to execute the projects to the timelines, cost assumptions, and revenue expectations outlined in the business plan
  • Monitor business development opportunities for future strategic investment
  • Aid in the development of OUS opportunity assessments for new projects/technologies
  • Evaluate and prioritize opportunities for indication expansion of existing products and prioritize based on NPV
  • Travel approximately 30%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors' degree with 10+ years of experience or a Masters' degree with 8+ years of experience
  • 5+ years healthcare and/or upstream marketing experience or product development experience

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years medical device industry experience in marketing, business development or sales
  • Strong leadership in developing comprehensive business assessments, strategies, tactics and solutions to drive business objectives
  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, planning and analytical skills
  • Experience managing cross functional teams
  • Ability to understand complex technical product information
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in a fast pace and dynamic environment
  • A high degree of initiative, motivation and accountability for results
  • An ability to work with all levels of management including Senior Leadership
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to meet with customers, attend scientific conferences and evaluate new technologies with limited advanced notice
  • Strong computer skills in spreadsheet, presentation and work processing software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to be solution oriented and problem solve to find optimal solution
  • Project management experience
