Technical Writer at ECi Solutions in Latham, New York

Job Description:

The Technical Writer position reports to the Sr Director of Development and must be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and distributing software documentation that is accurate, easily understood, and user friendly.

This position will be located in our Latham, NY office.

Responsibilities:

• Work with programmers, trainers, QA specialists, support, and software engineers in addition to direct engagement with the software to gain the necessary information to produce easily understood, documentation for sales, implementations, support, and end-user help.


• Write, update, and proofread documentation for software products and services, including online help, release notes, knowledge base and installation/configuration guides.


• Scope includes all products in the LBMH portfolio.


• Manage updates and troubleshoot documentation issues.


• Develop a core competency in documentation tools and product portfolio.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Education & Experience:

• Knowledge of MadCap suite including Flare, Contributor, Capture and Mimic.


• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.


• Experience in technical writing and editing for software documentation with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.


• Ability to understand technical concepts to create clear and accurate documentation.


• Ability to simultaneously work on different documentation modules and multiple products with minimal supervision.


• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with strong emphasis on consistency, usability, and quality.


• Ability to work effectively with team members situated in different geographic locations and ensure iterative versioning with local language subtlety.


• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting terms preferred.


• Related bachelor's degree.
