Job Description:

Join the growing Technical Manufacturing team focused on performing a variety of scientific activities to manufacture high quality medical diagnostic product reagents. The Associate Scientist will prepare solutions and reagents by following standard protocols at the laboratory bench, use advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. This person will participate on a technically focused team as an approach to support lab work and solve problems, and communicate and present to colleagues.

What will you do?

• Prepare materials, interprets data, and reaches conclusions.


• Document production activities.


• Participate on and may manage teams, planning and organizing team activities.


• Order and maintain equipment and work area.


• Collaborate and communicate with colleagues and others in related areas to provide work support, exchange information and ensure efficient processes.


• Produce reagents and perform other production-related activities.


• Adhere to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.


• Participate in conferences, webinars and seminars to continue to develop knowledge base.

What do you need to succeed?

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or material sciencepreferred


• Specific technical skills related to the applicable scientific specialty.


• Laboratory bench and instrumentation skills.


• Analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.


• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.


• Organizational skills and ability to plan work.


• Takes initiative and is accountable (shows ownership); focuses on task at hand; detail oriented.


• Adaptable.


• Ability to work well under pressure and handle the stress of deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be based out of our Westbrook location. Due to the current pandemic, as it relates to COVID-19, our employees' safety and well-being are top of mind for us. For those essential employees that must continue to work on-site, we have strengthened the preventative health measures already in place with new, more stringent actions. This includes but is not limited to making space for social distancing, use of mask/PPE, sanitize workstations, daily wellness checks, limited traffic flow by zones, and consistent real-time communication.

• Laboratory setting with varying levels of noise and exposure to various potential chemical and biological hazards.


• Compliance with approved laboratory practices is required.
