Purpose


This position is responsible for delivering Liberty's enterprise Operational Excellence strategy by leading deployments of a Lean Management System in the organization, as well as leading more complex process improvement projects. This role is tasked with coaching staff and leaders to change how Liberty manages its work. It will require working with teams and leadership to build continuous improvement practices in order to deliver better outcomes for employees, customers, and shareholders. It will require ability to influence employees from front line teams, supervisors as well as senior leaders.

This approach is expected to deliver the following business outcomes: Increased operational maturity, improved operational and financial performance measures and increasedemployee engagement.


Accountabilities



  • Must have a good understanding of statistical techniques related to process improvement, and an ability to analyze data to gain insights and support problem solving.

  • Must have advanced knowledge of Lean and various process improvement frameworks (e.g. DMAIC, PDCA etc.). Experience managing complex process improvement projects.

  • Must be able to proivde and demonstrate insights. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills including persuasive, data rich presentation skills.

  • Ability to facilitate and lead cross-functional teams through current state assessments, process mapping exercises, root cause analysis and future state design sessions.

  • Must be able to train, coach and influence leaders and teams in Operational Excellence and performance improvement approaches. Must have an advanced level of listening and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution abilities and group facilitation skills.

  • Must have advanced knowledge in Lean and Operational Excellence approaches, bringing credibility to the role and ability to influence senior leaders and teams.

  • Ability to adapt to different personal and learning styles.

  • Continuous improvement of methodology and training and coaching materials. Requires advanced knowledge of Operational Excellence approaches.

  • Assess effectiveness of training and coaching to improve the approach.

  • Develop new methods and approaches to enhance and add additional business value

  • Strong consulting and relationship management skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels in the organization.

  • Good understanding of basic project management disciplines, with practical experience leading project teams.

  • Ability to drive for results and an action-oriented self-starter. Inspires employees to create their own action plans and achieve results

  • Good understanding of change management principles and approaches, with experience of practical application. Able to develop change and communication plans to support engagements and improvement projects.

  • Must be able to develop strategies and tactics to mitigate resistance to change at both an individual and group level.

  • Aware of the human challenges in every improvement project. Behaves professionally with good emotional intelligence.


Education and Experience



  • University Degree and/or 7+ years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities

  • Hands-on knowledge and application of Lean management system approach

  • Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred

  • Formal training in Lean preferred
