INTRODUCTION

• This position is located in Greenbelt, MD at NASA Goddard


• Working Hours are 7am - 4pm, Monday through Friday


• Starting pay is $14.83 per hour


• Person hired is responsible to the Project Manager/Assistant Manager for the performance of assigned custodial and maintenance duties at the contract site


• Valid driver's license is Required (driving records will be checked)


• This position requires pre-employment criminal history background checks, driving records checks, government security clearance checks, and drug testing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible to the Project Manager/Assistant Manager for the performance of assigned custodial and maintenance duties at the contract site


• Maintains the loading dock in a neat and orderly condition daily


• Operates the compactor as needed


• Performs general cleaning tasks such as emptying trash, emptying recycling, policing grounds, glass cleaning, vacuuming, wall washing, spot cleaning, sweeping and mopping floors and stairs


• Assists Maintenance Tradesman as needed


• Maintains issued equipment


• Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks


• Assists in the set-up/arrangement of conference rooms


• Watches out for safety and fire hazards and reports them promptly or takes direct action to eliminate them


• Assists other maintenance personnel in maintaining an efficient facility operation


• Assists Building Manager and/or building tenant as requested


• Other duties as assigned by Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• The incumbent must be able to stand 85% of the work time


• Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment


• Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle


• All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, bench and corners


• Must be able to communicate with all staff, consumer and public


• Must have good vision and hearing, as use of power equipment and compactor operation is required

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Able to read and write as this is required in the performance of the daily job duties


• Must be able to work with hands and work around power equipment


• Ability to satisfactorily complete medical exam


• Must be able obtain/maintain the required security clearance for contract site


• Pre-employment background checks, including E-Verify, are required for all employment positions
