Each product family has been tailored to meet specific applications or market requirements, while delivering the technical leadership and cost-effective system performance customers have come to expect from Veeco.

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical expertise for production tools and new product introductions, both internally and at contract manufacturers, to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are met.

**This position will start on 1st shift then will move to swing shift (2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) after about three months.**

Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with design engineering to evaluate new designs as part of the product life cycle (PLC) process

  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to transition new product platforms into production

  • Work with final test operations to support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical/optical, and control related issues

  • Review and evaluate all documentation used in production for proper methods and process controls

  • Transition new products into production and process development.(NPI)

  • Analyze and resolve technical and operational problems

  • Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers

  • Participate in Product Life Cycle projects for implementation of new products into production at contract manufacturer site from manufacturing engineering role (PLC)

  • Perform DFM (design for manufacturing) reviews and Participate in Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)

  • Perform disposition and rework notifications for NCM (non-conforming material)

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product

  • Suggest and implement changes in manufacturing environment, facilities, and equipment to increase efficiency of operations

  • Execute ECM's (engineering change masters) accurately, timely and cost effectively in SAP

  • Support manufacturing by partnering with world class suppliers

  • Provide regular status reports for activities relating to contract manufacturer and supplier issues as well as objective reporting

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering desired) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferably in equipment/product manufacturing or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Experience with systems designs input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software/controls compatibility is preferred

  • Good understanding of system controls architecture is preferred

  • Semiconductor equipment, inspectionand clean room experience highly desirable

  • Experience with SPC and process control methodologies

  • Solid modeling experience (Solidworks and/or AutoCAD highly preferred)

  • Experience with MRP tools required (SAP highly preferred)

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, operating, maintenance, and job safety instructions/procedures) provided in verbal, written or pictorial form

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Must be willing to travel
