Under close supervision, performs assignments that are clearly defined and require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of scientific assignments. May be in the office, lab or in the field.
Assists in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluation, plan and permit projects.
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Conducts analyses of component portions of projects.
Conducts water, soil and other sampling.
Performs field observations and data collection assignments.
Conduct wetland delineations and functional assessments.
Map and assess vegetation communities and habitat quality.
Conduct listed species surveys.
Monitor and write reports for wetland mitigation projects, as well as proposals and technical reports.
Perform environmental assessments, permitting, and compliance for a wide variety of projects and clients.
Participate in multi-disciplinary environmental planning and assessments.
Normally requires a 4-year degree in biology, environmental science, geology or related science and typically 1-3 years' related experience, or a Masters degree and 0-2 years' experience. This includes limited experience in utilizing technical software and computers related to the discipline. May specialize in environmental science, air quality, GIS (Global Information Systems), geology, or hydrogeology.
