SUMMARY

Network Engineer / Project Engineer / Systems Engineer

Valeo Networks is looking to add a qualified IT Project Engineer. We have a top notch team and we're excited to welcome another who will make us even stronger. A successful applicant will have the experience, skillset, and mentality for identifying, scoping, and executing IT projects in rapid succession, from the smallest Microsoft 365 implementation to the largest server migration. They will also balance their assigned projects with escalated service tickets and coaching to other technicians. The Project Engineer will follow the established processes for IT project and service delivery and contribute towards our constant iteration of those processes. They will communicate regularly to assert priorities and ownership of their work. Technical direction will come from the Senior Engineers as well as the Director of Professional Services. Likewise the Project Engineer will set an example for, and give coaching to, other Project Engineers and Technicians.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Execute IT projects of varying complexity for our clients, "from concept to completion", where success means getting it done on time, on budget, according to Valeo best practices, and to highest client satisfaction. Projects can include network and server installs, Microsoft 365 migrations, workstation deployments, disaster recovery, and everything else IT related.

  • Regularly assess client infrastructures against our technical standards and best practices, and present findings to our Technology Alignment Manager for generating recommendations.

  • Serve as an effective point of escalation for trouble tickets and projects.

  • All aspects of implementing/maintaining/troubleshooting/supporting client infrastructures:

    1. Servers (Windows, Linux, on-prem, cloud, hosted, bare-metal, virtual)

    2. Networks (switches, routers, firewalls, WAN, LAN, WiFi, VLAN, VPN)

    3. Applications and Services (AD, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, M365, Office, Google Workspace, Line-of-Business)

    4. End-user devices (PC and MacOS Desktops and Laptops, iOS and Android Tablets and Mobile Devices)

    5. Backup and Disaster Recovery

    6. Cybersecurity

    7. Peripheral Devices (Printers, Scanners, Monitors, Docking Stations, Battery Backup)



  • Provide direction and real-time coaching to other technicians, for accomplishing project or service objectives.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to set and track priorities; self-manage calendar.

  • Communicate regularly with clients to close the loop on their requests or issues.

  • Enter all time, all the time, on time, into the ticketing system.

  • Parts replacement, system upgrades, deployment, and repair on desktop / notebook computers.

  • Follow defined procedures and proactively create or update SOPs with a critical eye towards standardization.

  • Participate in after-hours emergency support as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

(R) - Required

(P) - Preferred


  • (R) 5+ years providing "Tier 2/3/4" remote and onsite ("in the trenches") Sysadmin \ IT technical support in business environments.

  • (R) 3+ years verifiable experience directly implementing IT projects for small, midsize, and enterprise organizations.

  • (R) Strong understanding of the fundamentals of network and server/desktop administration, installations, upgrades, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment.

  • (R) Impeccable honesty and integrity - always proving to our clients why they trust us.

  • (R) Superior troubleshooting ability - seeks to quickly isolate root causes and apply best practice solutions.

  • (R) Very well-spoken and positive attitude - stays calm under pressure, especially when client is watching.

  • (R) Uncanny attention to detail and organized mindset - catches mistakes before anyone else.

  • (R) Can type 50 WPM or faster with consistently excellent spelling, grammar, and syntax.

  • (P) Prior work experience at an MSP/MSSP.

  • (P) Current (not expired) industry certifications such as MCSA\MCSE, CCNA\CCNP, VCP, CompTIA A+ Network+ Security+

  • (P) Proficiency with MSP oriented ticketing and time-tracking systems such as ConnectWise, ServiceNow, etc

  • (P) Proficiency in RMM solutions such as Automate (Labtech), Kaseya, etc.

  • (P) Other vendor experience and certifications: SonicWall, UniFi, Cisco, VMWare, Hyper-V, Datto, Replibit, Meraki, Watchguard, Dropsuite, Netgear.

  • (P) Associates degree in computer science or related technical field.

  • (P) Experience as any of the following: Network Administrator, System Administrator, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Tier3 Support

  • VOIP configuration and maintenance

  • Field experience running and terminating ethernet cable, patch panels.
