This Community Development (CD) Research Advisor opportunity plays an essential role in our Bank's mission and priorities and is a perfect fit for superb talent focused on making a difference.

As a CD Research Advisor, you will work with our CD team to promote the economic resilience and mobility of low- and moderate-income (LMI) individuals, families, and communities. You'll accomplish this by conducting and producing high-quality CD research that focuses on removing structural barriers and growing economic opportunity for LMI communities.

You Will:


  • Conduct original CD research that identifies challenges and opportunities for a more inclusive and resilient economy, with emphasis on human capital development
  • Produce independent research in alignment with other department goals and provide guidance on research and data analysis needs to department analysts
  • Identify emerging issues in the CD field, summarize data to tell the story, and apply your research to improve policy/programs
  • Prepare articles, papers, and blog posts, and deliver presentations based on your research to our audiences
  • Write briefing documents or informational memos per request of senior management on specialty CD topics
  • Maintain knowledge of CD and business conditions for our District by reading professional papers, books, and other economic material, and attending professional conferences/seminars

You Have:

  • A PhD in economics, finance, public policy, or other related area
  • 5 or more years of confirmed experience in a similar CD-related position
  • Experience in human capital issues such as education and workforce development
  • Familiarity with general community development priorities including inclusive economies and racial equality
  • Ability to conduct independent research, manage research projects, and multiple projects
  • Comprehensive data analysis skills, and knowledge of economic theory, including quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages such as Stata, SPSS, SAS, or R
  • Experience with a variety of data sources, including Census and BLS
  • Data visualization software experience (ArcGIS, Carto, Tableau, or High Charts)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to articulate issues clearly
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements
