This position is a remote-based position on interim basis due to Covid19 Pandemic. Upon approval of 'Return to Office" site guidelines, this role will require the individual to work onsite in Minneapolis, MN or Mansfield, MA.

This role is in Medtronic's corporate tax department focusing on US international income tax. Medtronic has over 200 offices in countries throughout the world, and the variety of tax issues will provide this individual with significant opportunities for learning and growth.

The primary role of this position will be to oversee aspects of US compliance as it relates to Medtronic non-US subsidiaries. This position also involves tax accounting, tax research, responding to tax audit inquiries, and collaborating with other tax and finance professionals throughout Medtronic. This position will report to the Senior Tax Manager, International Tax.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Manage aspects of the US International tax compliance process to ensure accurate and timely filing of Medtronic's Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 1118, 1120-F and others.


  • Have a key role in meeting ASC 740 responsibilities including the review of foreign provision packages, and preparation or review of estimated calculations including estimated subpart F impact, GILTI impact, and dividend impact on US taxable income.


  • Assist with withholding tax calculations as well as providing and verifying required Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 withholding documentation.


  • Review and assist with responses to federal IDRs and proposed adjustments.


  • Perform research and planning analysis.


  • Work on special tax projects, with varying levels of involvement and responsibilities.


  • Develop systems and procedures that lead to process improvements.


  • Oversee staff in the accomplishment of the above duties.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • 5+ years of corporate income tax experience

Nice to Have

  • 4+ years of corporate international income tax experience
  • Solid understanding of US International Tax concepts
  • Experience in international tax compliance for a public accounting firm or other large multinational corporation
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Excel
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Masters of Business Taxation (MBT)
  • Strong PC Skills, including Excel, tax software (CorpTax and OneSource) and financial accounting systems (SAP, Hyperion)
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills related to finance and operating situations, along with the ability to perform detailed work
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization
  • Flexible - able to adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to grow into a management position
