We are currently seeking an Intermediate Level Financial Analyst to join our team at Piper Sandler. Become a subject matter expert for all Corporate Support areas (Business Partners) and centrally planned firm-wide expenses.
This role entails the following responsibilities:
Act as the main Finance liaison for Corporate Support business partners. Keep Business Partners and Finance Manager informed. Build trusted relationships with Business Partners which includes diligence in understanding the business, anticipating their needs, and maintaining a "customer service" attitude.
Ensure accurate financial reporting for assigned areas. Audit monthly results (know the numbers) and meet with Business Partners once per month to review results. Question expenses that don't make sense and look for cost reduction ideas.
Streamline and improve ineffective reports. Create accurate, easy-to-read reports that help Business Partners manage their businesses.
Work with Business Partners to generate an effective annual plan and forecasts when needed.
Maintain Corporate Support departmental allocations to products. Understand the implications of the allocations on profitability of the products and ensure departmental managers have a strong understanding as well.
Assist Business Partners in decision making by providing thoughtful financial analysis as requested as well as opportunities identified by the Financial Analyst. Complete modeling and CapExs to support new initiatives and contract renewals.
Perform monthly variance analysis of centrally planned firm-wide expenses including Communication, Occupancy, and Legal expenses. Responsible for forecasting and completing the annual plan on these expenses.
Assist Finance Manager and Treasurer with preparing BOD presentations
Assist Finance Manager and other Financial Analysts as needed including ad hoc projects. Share ideas around efficiencies as well as new processes that could be expanded to assist others.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
Strong understanding of both accounting (GAAP) and financial principals.
3+ years of Financial Analyst experience required
Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis and create effective models.
Advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables and charts.
Strong PowerPoint presentation skills
Strong initiative to problem solve and improve processes
Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment with various levels of management.
