Summary:

The Director of Contracts and Risk Management will serve in a senior-level role supporting, managing, and executing the company's contracts and risk management duties. This is a remote position reporting directly to the Vice President of Contracts and Commercial Risk Management. The Director will be responsible for providing legal and risk management counsel, support, contracts, legal and risk management review, negotiation, and administration of high-level engagement and various other assignments and tasks to support both the commercial and public sector business. The director will be expected to support multiple business function and operating units, to possess and provide authoritative knowledge of the company on contract negotiations and risk management policies, procedures, and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide senior-level support, counsel, and guidance on legal issues and contract matters between commercial and governmental clients.
  • Conduct contract negotiations with a wide array of clients across various sectors, including energy, engineering, construction, consultative, professional services, field services, and other services of the company.
  • Draft notices, demands, inquiries, and other legal memorandum and documents as required.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and potential clients to ensure the most advantageous terms and conditions for the company.
  • Individual is expected to participate in senior leadership programs and initiatives, and to develop and share unique solutions or initiatives.
  • Provide opinions to the company's corporate executive and risk management team. Implement best practices in risk management to support the company's enterprise risk management program.
  • Maintain risk registers and other management tracking tools as assigned or required. Understanding of and working knowledge with CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, and other environmental laws and regulations are required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and policies as required for public companies, including specifically, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Minimum of 15 years' of progressively responsible experience working in the engineering, environmental management and consulting industry, with a deep understanding of contract law, legal concepts, corporate financial structure, project management principals, as well as relevant experience managing and negotiating large-scale contracts, complex commercial transactions, and risk mitigation expertise.
  • Must possess at least a Bachelor's (BA/BSc) degree from a regionally accredited college or university AND either a Juris Doctorate (JD) or a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Previous work in a technical consulting environment is desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employee will work a varied physical work schedule that may consist of remote (work from home), shared office, office "hoteling", or standard office setting and environment. There may be occasional travel to client or other company office locations up to 25% of the time. Employees must have a valid and current driver's license in good standing and no felony or misdemeanor convictions.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must be fluent in the English language - writing and speaking, etc.; Report writing requirements must be clear, cogent, and defensible based on facts and evidence-based determinations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Quantitative reasoning, statistical reasoning.

OTHER SKILLS:

Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Office, and Word. Additional experience with Oracle systems, Access and other business software and systems a plus. Secret (or higher) security clearance, Public Trust clearances are a plus.
