Senior Electrical Engineer, Building Design at BSA LifeStructures Inc. in Denver, Colorado

We have an opportunity in our Denver studio for a talented and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer who is driven by new challenges.  As an integrated architecture and engineering firm, we partner with colleagues and clients to solve problems holistically and create solutions; solutions that improve lives.  This senior consulting engineer role will lead project delivery from inception to construction on projects in addition to providing engineer leadership and mentorship to the MEP team in Denver.    


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Client satisfaction and design vision met

    • Interfaces with client.

    • Responsible for all aspects of engineering design, specific to the discipline of Electrical engineering, within designated projects.

    • Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design, specific to the discipline of Electrical engineering.

    • Prepares engineering analysis of projects, to include: preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.



  • Design standards, local codes and guidelines are met for quality documents

    • Prepares drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.

    • Prepares technical construction specifications.

    • Reviews the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices.

    • Conducts surveys to gather field data.

    • Helps develop company standards, policies and best practices with respect to specific discipline



  • Client Relationship and Industry Partner Management

    • Build strong relationships with target clients that fit into the overall market strategy and key industry partners inside and outside of projects

    • Sell all BSA services as appropriate; Promote and introduce various disciplines to client contacts; Lead the development of relationships up and down the client chain zippering relationships with counterparts at BSA

    • Maintain client relationship through the life of a project and post completion; Ensure client satisfaction; Manage transitions as client contacts change



  • Discipline Leadership

    • Manage the discipline as a business while creating a healthy work environment for all. 

    • Promote career development and staff advocacy. 

    • Assist with annual staff hiring plan

    • Coordinates the activities of the engineering design team.

    • Provide mentoring to other staff members as directed.



  • Minimize rework

    • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality.

    • Performs field inspections as part of the construction quality assurance process.



     


    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities



    • Assist with project schedules and assign work to team as needed.

    • Assist with project budget and fees as needed.

    • Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences as required as part of the design process.

    • Promote company reputation through good client relations.

    • May be required to perform other duties as assigned

    • Code and Mathematical knowledge required: Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand “abstract” principles behind math and physics.


    • Ownership Mentality:  Possesses a sense of ownership in all deliverables. Utilizes knowledge and opportunity to continually strive for excellence within an empowering culture. Collaborates and supports fellow employee owners in ongoing improvements. Understands personal accountability within their role in the company.  


    • Computer skills required: Microsoft Windows environment, Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Google: Mail, Calendar, Drive, Apps; familiarity with Deltek Vision preferred

      • Electrical Engineer: SKM Power Tools - Electrical System Analysis, Various lighting design software

    BSA offers a comprehensive benefit package to enhance the total compensation. The anticipated range for this role is $105,000 - $151,000 and is dependent on qualifications, experience and education.  BSA LifeStructures is a 100% Employee Owned Firm.

    Experience

    Preferred

    • 10 year(s): experience in engineering systems design for Healthcare, Higher Education, and/or Research Laboratory facilities

    • 10 year(s): experience in Electrical system design

    Education

    Required
    • Bachelors or better in Electrical Engineering
