If so, a role as a Data Governance Analyst in General Motors Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) function may be a good fit for you.

CDAO Enterprise Data Governance Background:
The Enterprise Data Governance team is a function within the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO). The team partners across the enterprise to recognize and build data as a corporate asset. The enterprise data governance program is being designed and implemented as part of this strategy to enable:
  • Better understanding of data and data usage, reduce duplication of data assets, enable data reuse, avoid bad data investments, create operational efficiencies within CDAO and other functional areas across the enterprisse
  • External data licensing and internal analytics teams to access data faster with higher confidence, reducing time to market, creating additional revenue growth and reducing cost
  • Reduction of enterprise risk by enabling compliance with Legal, Privacy and other regulatory needs, creating auditable & reportable procedures, protecting brand reputation and avoid legal action and penalties
  • Spend reduction and optimize third party data management and data investments for the enterprise

Position Overview:
The Data Analyst role will provide expertise, guidance, and support in establishing, operationalizing and sustaining a data governance program that identifies, defines, manages and publishes data standards and policies for enterprise data assets to the success of General Motors. The role will work with various management, subject matter experts and executive stakeholders from cross functional areas throughout the enterprise.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Data Governance
  • Guide and support data governance activities to include initial exploration and analysis of the data landscape, business socialization, data profiling, and determine data fit for use, etc.
  • Meet with multiple levels of the organization across multiple business functions to identify, understand and document data requirements and usage and to facilitate alignment on current and future data standards
  • Assist with the creation of new data standards
  • Provide coaching and data-centric insight to business initiatives
  • Monitor program metrics and dashboard reporting for review and presentation
  • Participate in facilitating meetings, trainings, and communication between several stakeholders

Other Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborates with IT, evaluate/assess new and existing governance tools to meet the governance needs of the selected application(s)
  • Support the build out of these tools to manage the new data standards, including building export files, perform data validations, create design requirements/documents, develop workflow requirements, liaise with IT and perform testing.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

- Candidates should have 5+ years understanding of:
  • Data governance including metadata hierarchies, attribute definitions, and common use
  • Software development methodologies and lifecycles
  • Understand data structure, data interfaces and how data flows and transforms from source systems to the downstream systems.
-A bachelor's or graduate degree and approximately 3-5 years of related work experience in Data Governance, Process Facilitation, Business Analysis or similar areas

- Maintain effectiveness in continually evolving environment
- Ability to be a change agent, using influence, education and persuasion to build relationships and gain support for difficult changes
- Ability to rethink existing processes and design a future state aligned with a newly envisioned operating model
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple phases of the delivery life cycle, including defining requirements, design, development, testing and deployment
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated effective collaboration skills up, down and across the organization
- Problem solving and analytical abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork and partnerships
- Strong Microsoft Office suite abilities in Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Power BI
