Red Lion Controls has exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer in our Mobile, AL facility. Joining a group of talented, friendly and engaging engineers, our Engineers will be a key component of new product development as Red Lion Controls continues to grow its presence in the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) space.

Red Lion has secured significant new product wins and the successful individual will help with these new engineering initiatives. With new engineering leadership, the engineers across Red Lion - many of whom acquired through acquisitions - are now collaborating like never before and are poised to continue to do so as the Company looks to nearly triple in size as a result of both organic and acquisitive growth. Our products help solve the world's most challenging problems by bringing together stranded assets across many industries to enable businesses to truly understand their operations. Our Software Engineer will be part of a team responsible for software and/or firmware engineering activity including design, development, testing, maintenance, and internal documentation of embedded products on VxWorks and Linux platforms. Current project focus includes cutting edge embedded networking products.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develops, tests, and documents software systems to specification.
  • Complies with internal and external standards.
  • Performs peer reviews of team members' designs, code, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in multiple Programming languages
  • Knowledge of programming theory
  • Knowledge of IDE and software debugging
  • Agile process knowledge and debugging
  • Design skills for key modules
  • Documentation
Minimum Requirements
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field. Associate's degree with substantial experience considered.
  • One to three years professional experience developing complex software systems on multiple platforms.
  • Solid understanding of programming theory and analysis
  • Strong understanding of OO concepts
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming
  • Knowledge of automated test techniques and tools.
  • Ability to take initiative and carry out project tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with software engineering tools for design documentation, revision control, issue tracking, and project scheduling.
  • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team member to creatively and cooperatively solve problems and complete tasks.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping abilities are a must.
  • Proficiency with English language both written and verbal communication.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience programming applications for real-time embedded systems and awareness of the constraints involved
  • Experience with agile project management tools and maintaining source code repositories preferred.
  • Flexibility in work schedule - occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet established deadlines.
  • Experience with and good understanding of Test Driven Development methodologies
  • Experience developing software in C/C++
  • Experience with virtual environments
Travel
  • Occasional travel, including overnight, may be required
