We are seeking a self-driven, detail-oriented, and motivated, Senior Test Engineer to join our fast-growing team. This role will support testing activities for an applied research team, whose purpose is to coordinate and conduct research to support the development and continual improvement of predictive technologies for Best Buy Health. You will be expected to elevate the teams’ quality mindset and overall product quality by defining and driving effective test strategies.
Your responsibilities will include leading the team’s quality strategy and processes, designing and executing exploratory tests of new products and features, conducting verification and validation activities of internally developed data collection platforms, interpreting and reporting on key results, and optimizing test strategies throughout the product development process.

Minimum requirements:


  • 6+ years’ experience in a quality engineer or test engineer role with a bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or MIS, or 8+ years of the same experience without a bachelor’s

  • Demonstrated ability to provide data-driven, customer-focused feedback through test design, data analysis, and technical report writing

  • Experience developing and executing customer-obsessed verification & validation protocols to ensure release candidates meet business and technical requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to identify appropriate testing approaches for software, firmware, and hardware release candidates

  • Experience creating, implementing, and maintaining quality procedures and work instructions

  • Familiarity with hands-on execution of manual tests and automation tools

  • Knowledge and understanding of test data management

Preferred qualifications:

  • Possess a solid understanding of SDLC concepts and related design documentation

  • Experience working in/around data science, data analytics, algorithm development, machine learning, or other data-driven software development

  • Experience conducting technical and risk analyses of new and existing technologies

  • Experience working in an Agile environment such as Lean, Scrum, Kanban, etc.

  • Experience using common project management tools (e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Confluence)

  • Knowledge of continuous integration and software DevOps approaches

  • Experience with MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes

  • Experience with test automation and container software (e.g. LabView, Jenkins, Docker)

  • Scripting and programming experience for automated testing
