We are currently seeking a Desktop Systems Administrator Mac-Linux to join our team in Mountain View, California (US-CA), United States (US).
Day to Day Job Functions:
Provide customer service to a large end user base in regards to Mac and Linux computing functionality, questions, diagnostics, assistance and consultations in one on one or group situations via in person, phone, email and video conferences, etc
Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations which may impact product performance
Desktop, Laptop, printer and attached peripherals break/fix including hardware and software of Mac and Linux
Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems using advanced tools / technical knowledge to remediate customer problems and conduct scheduled installs
Performs troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repair on desktops, laptops, printers, and attached peripherals
Performs system upgrades and advance deployment.
Develop, push, troubleshoot and report on patch levels using provided tools such as Jamf, Big Fix and Apple Remote Desktop or other patching tool
Test and develop operating system, imaging and compliance
Lead/manage projects such as OS migrations and EoL mangement
Participate in annual security audits. Implement Agency/Center mandates. Configure systems per appropriate security plans
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT related field
Associates Degree in an IT related field plus 4 additional years of IT related work experience in lieu of a BS/BA
8 additional years of IT related work experience in lieu of a degree
6-8 years of directly related IT work experience
6+ years knowledge/supporting Macintosh Desktop (GUI and command line)
4+ years knowledge/supporting Linux Operating systems
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Mac BSD or Linux open source applications
Experience with license managers, logging servers, virtual environments
Experience with configuration management software, ansible, puppet
Experience leading and managing small projects such as: dual factor authentication, OS migration, EoL management
Familiarity with USGCB, CIS, NIST, FISMA or other standards and benchmarking
Understand and recommend software and hardware lifecycle for customer upgrade needs
Experience supporting in a Science, Research, Engineering, Education, or Government environment
Physical Requirements:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence and a computer screen; strength and mobility for racking equipment, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, retrieving, climbing and working in confined and/or awkward spaces. Light lifting at times < 50 lbs
