Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive data analysis and special project support to Proterra’s Engineering Operations team and the engineering organization at large. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing relevant data used in measuring key metrics and high level KPIs for the engineering organization and reporting both internally and throughout the enterprise. You will use quantitative methods and tools to identify continuous improvement opportunities, and then lead cross-functional teams to implement solutions.

About the Role – You will:


  • Maintain and improve key data collection processes. This will include collaborating with various functions including engineering, field service, shop floor, quality, sales, and IT teams.

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including IT, to improve and maintain the key software supporting data collection and reporting. This would include: Arena (PLM), Smart Sheet, 3D Experience (CAD/PLM), BOX, Oracle ERP, EPDM, and Tableau.

  • Generate the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly metrics for the Engineering organization.

  • Build data visualizations and “tools” to empower engineering leaders and their teams to leverage to improve in speed, efficiency, value, and quality of their work.

  • Use data analysis, manipulation, and visualization tools to identify, prioritize, and then drive improvements within Engineering and enterprise

  • Serve as a point person for Engineering process and system improvements

  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • You will report to the Director of Engineering Operations but collaborate with other leadership team members based locally in Greenville, SC, our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA.

Your Experience Includes:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Industry experience related to engineering and data analysis.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and mathematical skills

  • Knowledge of PLM and ERP systems

  • Experience in analyzing business improvements.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau or similar)

  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis of large data sets (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau Prep, or other similar tools is a plus)

  • Continuous Improvement and / or Lean training is a plus
