Entry Level Maintenance Technician at Horizon Goodwill Industries in Hagerstown, Maryland

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for independently performing routine building and grounds maintenance for assigned facilities in the Cumberland, MD region in order to ensure a safe, clean, and effective operating environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform interior and exterior general maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of assigned facilities.


2. Utilize appropriate hand, electrical, and gasoline power tools to accomplish maintenance tasks.


3. Coordinate work to be performed by subcontractors with Maintenance Supervisor and location managers.


4. Develop and implement regular preventative maintenance schedules for all assigned equipment.


5. Perform all work in accordance with established procedures and applicable safety regulations. Report accidents and safety concerns in a timely manner.


6. Order parts and materials as needed; maintain accurate inventory of tools and supplies.


7. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


2. Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks to established codes and standards, including but not limited to: carpentry, painting, minor electrical diagnosis and repair, minor plumbing diagnosis and repair, HVAC filter changes, and exterior (grounds) maintenance.


3. Experience with using computers and web-based programs for communication, inventory, and work order tracking.


4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.


5. Ability to lift up to fifty (pounds) without assistance.


6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment/operating manuals, and safety documents and regulatory codes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.


2. Minimum of three years demonstrated experience in one or more building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC/mechanical.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. The successful candidate must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug test.


2. Position is considered essential personnel and may be required to report to work outside of normally scheduled hours and in inclement weather.


3. Must have clean driving record and valid driver’s license. Position requires the ability to report to multiple sites in the territory.
