Your Responsibilities

As a Weld Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Seeding located in Valley City, ND, you will provide weld engineering and robot technical support for current welding operations. Additionally within this role, you will:


  • Create and maintain Fanuc robotic weld programs.
  • Develop offline robot programs for new and revised welded assemblies on robot systems currently in production.
  • Develop and implement cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation in areas of responsibility.
  • Create, audit and maintain weld Operator Method Sheets.
  • Actively support and participate in department continuous improvement projects.
  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data for identifying root cause and implement solutions for welding issues in the departments of responsibility.
  • Innovate and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas for welding operations.
  • Support capacity planning and productivity improvement activities for weld departments.
  • Support the implementation of new weld processes and technologies in weld departments.
  • Work with Operations and product personnel to support current production processes, limited production builds for new product programs and assist with ramping up to full production and ensuring necessary production rates, process capabilities and productivity requirements are met.

What Skills You Need

In addition, we require:


  • 3 or more years of experience: Programming and maintaining Fanuc robot weld equipment.
  • 2 or more years of experience: WeldPro offline weld robot programming.
  • 3 or more years of experience: Knowledge of Lincoln and Miller MIG welding equipment.
  • 2 or more years of experience: Designing, maintaining and improving weld fixtures and tooling.
  • 2 or more years of experience: Work well within a team environment and across different levels of the organization.
  • 2 or more years of experience: Moderate capabilities with Creo and Windchill.
  • 2 or more years of experience: Champion and improve overall product flow and line design within areas of responsibility; working knowledge of Human Performance and ergonomic optimization.
  • 2 or more years of experience: Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • 5 years of experience: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 5 or more years of experience: Excellent work ethic and attitude; work flexible hours, as needed.

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with robotic welding integrators.
  • Certified welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Experience procuring weld tooling and/or weld robot capital equipment.
  • Experience designing process controls for mistake proofing.
  • Develop, maintain and edit PLC and MHI programs.
  • Experience with weld process tracking systems; Miller CenterPoint or Lincoln Sequencer.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering, Ag Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
