Scientist/Sr. Scientist, R&D Analytical Method Development at ALDEVRON, LLC in Fargo, North Dakota

Job Description:

The Scientist/Sr. Scientist Analytical Method Development position leads/performs variety of tasks from R&D analytical projects to client-driven campaigns and optimization of existing products/processes. This person will independently design, execute and analyze analytical tests for characterization of mRNA and plasmid DNA biologics. This role is expected to prioritize, strategize, and schedule projects and lead a team of scientists in order to effectively meet pre-determined deadlines.

Responsibilities 


  • Lead development of analytical tests for RNA, DNA, proteins and large molecule biologics

  • In collaboration with Aldevron’s Client Relations (Sales) and Scientific Teams, write project proposals and technical project plans

  • Lead the transfer of analytical tests to the research-grade and GMP quality teams

  • Identify and correct gaps in analytical methods

  • Participate in technical discussions with clients

  • Author SOPs and technical documents, including project reports and data presentations

  • Supervise other staff as required

  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, good judgement and trustworthiness

Required Skills


  • Hands-on experience with methods development for a wide range of biological analytical assays including assays for RNA and DNA purity, AGE, PAGE, Nanodrop, CGE; chromatographic tests for RNA and DNA purity, RP-HPLC, SEC, and techniques such as PCR, ELISA, and calorimetry

  • Experience with Dynamic Light Scattering and SEC-MALS is a plus

  • Experience with GMP assay qualification and validation is highly desired

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Proficient using analytical software packages including Excel and Prism

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence team members to achieve shared goals

  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated success in presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner

  • Possess steady decision-making skills that inspire confidence in achieving stated project objectives

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously and effectively organize the workflow in a fast-paced environment

Must-Haves


  • B.S./B.A. and 8+ years of combined work experience in the field of analytical method development, QC testing, or closely related field

  • M.S. and 5+ years of combined work experience in the field of analytical method development, QC testing, or closely related field

  • Ph.D and 2+ years of combined work experience in the field of analytical method development, QC testing, or closely related field

Working Conditions

The Senior Scientist, Analytical Method Development operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers (Mac and PC), phones and photocopiers as well as equipment common to a protein biochemistry laboratory.
