The Senior Communications Lead helps drive HORNE’s overall brand voice and develops messages for internal and external audiences. This role reports to the Director of Marketing and partners with firm leaders and clients to meet creative, marketing, brand, and business objectives.


Position Overview:



  • This position requires a person to work with a collaborative approach to HORNE’s overall communications planning, providing input on firm strategy while assisting in the development of strategic communications and marketing plans.

  • The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable managing both internal and external communications in a variety of industries and adjusting quickly to accommodate the changing needs and priorities.

  • Experience managing communications in a fast-paced professional services firm environment is key to success in this position as is the ability to work closely with internal and external subject matter experts and outside contractors to develop compelling and effective written and audiovisual content.

  • Types of content include press releases, bylined articles, white papers, corporate videos and marketing collateral. Ability to digest complex information into easily consumable information is key.

  • Core areas of responsibility include brand messaging and storytelling, which is applied to everything from campaigns to web and digital communications. The ideal candidate must be ready & able to bring ideas, provide strategic perspective, and help deliver on-brand communications that maintain HORNE's brand vision and image.

Responsibilities:



  • Help develop and execute the organization’s overall corporate communications and marketing strategies and campaigns.

  • Drive the development, writing and editing of content, including articles, blogs, social media posts, website, proposals, RFPs and branded collateral for both internal and external audiences.

  • Collaborate on the production of podcasts and video content (webinars, educational/informational and promotional).

  • Coordinate and schedule a stable of freelance writers to assist with planned content on an as-needed basis.

  • Work closely with SMEs on content development, including written, video and audio content

  • Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into easy-to-understand content.

  • Establish a regular cadence of relevant, easily accessible content through various communication channels.

  • Own major end-to-end processes and events on a project, takes initiative, and uses problem-solving skills to think beyond the task to the outcome that needs to be achieved.

  • Independently gather information from a variety of sources to analyze, interpret, and summarize data gathered and to deliver insights.

  • Pitch ideas confidently and present your creative vision clearly.

  • Ensure all of the organization’s or client’s written content is consistent with the overall brand.

  • Lead multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is required.

  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.

  • Help develop strategic marketing plans that share HORNE’s story and support the firm’s business development efforts.

  • Handle difficult situations with grace while under pressure.

  • Monitor the standard of output for each project.

  • Translate client feedback and critiques into edits.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience, with a focus on high quality design and content in premium consumer and web environments. Preference will be given to candidates with advertising agency experience in a copywriting or communications role.

  • Minimum of 2 years of people management.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, presentation and oral communications skills, with an eye for detail.

  • Highly organized with good project management skills. Able to juggle multiple, and sometimes, conflicting priorities and needs

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite.

  • HubSpot and Adobe Creative Suites knowledge a plus.

  • Self-driven personality who is proactive in nature and driven to act with a sense of urgency; able to work well under pressure and with demanding deadlines

  • Successful track record leading a team; able to delegate, coach, mentor and provide effective direction and feedback

  • Strong collaboration and influence skills; able to build effective relationships with stakeholders across organizational levels

  • Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and determine a creative vision that matches client briefs.

  • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.

  • Limited overnight travel may be required.
