      To provide direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner.

      AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

    • 
      Acute care experience as a nursing assistant or aide experience
      
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • 
    
    

    Education/training REQUIRED:

    
    
    
    
    • 
      Completion of state recognized CNA program;or
      
    
    
    • 
      Completion of first semester junior year in an accredited BSN program dependent upon school curriculum. VCU/MCV BSN students - completion of sophomore year, Nursing 201, 202, 261. Accredited Associate Degree and Diploma programs - completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses. Specialty areas e.g. pediatrics, women`s health, psychiatry may require completion of a clinical rotation in that area;or
      
    
    
    • 
      Completion of EMT program; or
      
    
    
    • 
      Completion of medical assistant program; or
      
    
    
    • 
      One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years; or
      
    
    
    • 
      One (1) year of care partner or equivalent work experience within the last three (3) years; or
      
    
    
    • 
      One (1) year of military corpsman experience within the last three (3) years
