PRINCIPAL MATERIALS EXPERT
THE ROLE:
Is for an experienced Principal Materials Expert, designing the next generation of products for Logitech in our Camas, Washington office. The ideal candidate will have a strong consumer electronics or medical device background, be a self-starter, a strong leader, work well within a development team, and have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. They will be responsible for the research and development of various Logitech consumer products.

Design, develop, and validate new and existing materials for the product development team
Investigate new material technologies and processes in order to maintain cutting edge design solutions and drive innovation
Collaborate across disciplines with internal and external design partners from early concept through production life cycles
Function as a materials specialist leader in a cross-functional project team
Be a mentor and technical leader within the team
Collaborate with suppliers, engineers, 3rd party partners, program managers, and functional managers
Ensure solutions exceed feature requirements and consumer expectations
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
For consideration, please bring the following minimum skills and behaviors:
Adhesives, Gels, and Flexible materials experience is required
Experience leading materials research from initial investigation through production application
Experience working with suppliers and vendors (ODM, CDM, CM models)
Successful prior experience specifying materials for consumer electronic or medical device products
Strong knowledge in various materials manufacturing process and able to apply them effectively to meet part requirements and consumer expectations
Strong knowledge of plastic materials, injection molding and tooling, assembly processes, cosmetic finishes, and defect analysis
Experience with silicone molding (liquid injection, compression molding, etc.) and assembly is required
Proponent of DFM, DFA, FMEA, tolerance analysis...
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques
Flexibility and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that is evolving
Highly proficient in materials testing
Good verbal and written communication skills, high level of cross-cultural competence in communicating effectively in a global environment
Experience with Zwick materials testing equipment a plus
International travel is required
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's, or Master's Degree in Materials Science
15+ years of industry experience
