Job Description:

We are seeking a Credit Underwriter for the MH Central Loan Originations Department.

The Credit Underwriter is accountable to analyze and evaluate the quality of manufactured home loan applicants on the basis of credit, capacity, character, and collateral, and to use discretion within established parameters to either: grant approval; identify alternative solution to loan structure for conditional approval or to issue declination. The job incumbent must communicate the credit decision to sources and respond to inquiries in a manner that; effectively informs the source of the decision, reasons for the decision, any options for re-structure; educates and reinforces to the source our desired quality of applicant and desired loan structure; and delivers service excellence to solidify Credit Human as the lender of choice for applicants meeting our criteria and reinforces service as the associated value proposition of choosing Credit Human for manufactured housing loans.

This position requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage License System (NMLS) and Registry on an annual basis in addition to maintaining updates as needed.

Highlights:


  • Decision credit applications within established guidelines and credit authority evaluating such factors as debt-to-income ratios, credit reporting, employment, income, collateral, payment-to-income, term, etc. to determine capability and capacity of applicant(s).

  • Forward recommended loan approvals that exceed established credit authority to manager (or designee of manager) for concurrence.

  • Take responsibility for problem resolution to non-routine issues that occur during the course your work day; reviewing issue or circumstance, determining appropriate action(s) that may deviate from policy and/or procedure(s) to render appropriate decision(s) within prescribe limits and authority.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all programs in each market, policy, procedures and guidelines and credit criteria as it pertains to Credit Human and our business partners.

Experience:

   Required


  • 4 + years indirect lending experience as loan officer or underwriter in real estate, manufactured housing, automobile and/or consumer finance industry 

    Preferred


  • 2 + years of sales experience and/or training in consumer finance product sales

Education:

    Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience

Licenses & Certifications:

    Required


  • Registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry on an annual basis in addition to maintaining updates as needed

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable in real estate underwriting principles

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm 

Level of Work: 2B
