The Associate Director of Admission performs a wide variety of admission and recruitment duties in support of the Undergraduate Admission Department and the University's strategic admission goals and objectives, including recruitment travel, high-level data collection and analysis, and development of strategic recruitment planning.

Transfer Student Strategy
Oversee and assist with the recruitment and strategy of our transfer student population.

Supervise the Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment.

Lead the initiatives to identify and cultivate community college partnerships.

Guide the work to develop and maintain up-to-date articulation agreements and pathways.

Support efforts for traditional and new and inventive strategies for transfer recruitment.

Usher action steps to clearly communicate course equivalencies and timely credit evaluations.

Strengthen campus partner relationships that support and foster the transfer plan.

Support and further develop the plans for the use and benefits of Transferology.

Develop a thoughtful and intentional transfer recruitment strategy that entails metrics for measurement and quantitative goals.

Counselor Community Strategy
Grow and Maintain the Counselor Advisory Board.

Lead efforts to engage and communicate with the Counselor Community (to include such strategies as quarterly newsletters, phone call campaigns, representation at IEC events, maintaining the school counselor website).

Plan and execute counselor events.

Manage the counselor database.

Serve as the liaison between the Office of Admission the Counselor Community

Support counselor web communities and resources such as Slate.org


Territory Analysis & Planning
Conduct high-level data collection and analysis, query management, new issue tracking, and data reporting in furtherance of overall assignment of geographic responsibilities for the Freshman Admission team.

Report on the development of trends, bench marking, territory analysis, and student search analysis.

Create and develop an annual strategic plan for recruiting and enrolling first year students at the University based on the ever-evolving data and guidance from the Director of Admission Recruitment and Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Student Recruitment
Maintain knowledge and understanding of the National trends in Higher Education, particularly in the areas of admission and Enrollment Management.

Attract students (including domestic freshmen, transfer and international) from an assigned geographic area by visiting high schools, attending college nights and college fairs, and making formal presentations to groups of students and parents on and off campus.

Establish and nurture relationships with high school guidance counselors and independent counselors, developing a wide base of prospects to further the continued growth of the University's recruitment effort.

Collaborate and assist with international recruitment and admission efforts, concentrating on recruitment initiatives to U.S. high schools and community colleges with international populations including admission advisement to prospective students and building relationships with international student guidance counselors and educational agents in the U.S.

Student Admission
Review a caseload of prospective student applications and make admission decisions in accordance with established admission accept policies.

Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with admitted students, advising on such matters as degree requirements, academic and extracurricular University life, admission standards, University culture, and the logistics of visiting and/or living on or off campus.

University Relations Liaison
Serve as a primary liaison for admission visitors, which includes regular and targeted correspondence with all prospects, families and guidance staff.

Maintain day, evening, and weekend office hours to maximize personal communication with students, parents, and counselors in person, during travel or via College Live web chats.

Increase the visibility of the University with external constituents by disseminating University literature and other applicable data in order to keep target schools and school counselors informed of recruitment and outreach efforts.

Managerial Responsibilities
Perform managerial responsibilities for the Assistants, Counselors and/or students.

Develop a comprehensive training program and be the primary staffing and scheduling coordinator.

Supervise the dissemination of work responsibilities and priorities, training, and personnel resolution.

Write and distribute performance evaluations.

Mentor and motivate staff to achieve peak production and performance.

Committee Participation and Leadership
Participate in University Committees to enhance the effectiveness of Student Admission Programs.

Participate in Admission committees as appointed, including EAI, EAII and Regular Decision committees.

The Associate Director will prepare student applications for reviews and formulate early admission decisions while working under strict time constraints.

Additional Functions
Participate, as necessary, in other technical and/or professional admission matters as delegated by the Directors.

Perform data collection and analyzes data.

Assist in the support and preparation for all enrollment management events with specific attention to logistical details, staffing and support materials.



Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in student services or a related field.

Minimum of three years of progressive admission and/or higher education experience.

Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation with the ability to convey and obtain information amongst a variety of audiences such as students, parents, alumni and staff.

Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines and adept at shifting skills to accommodate changing priorities with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver's license.

Ability to travel 30-40% of the time.

Ability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in student services or a related field. Prior experience in a lead admission role.

University Enterprise Resource Planning System experience.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
